story of my life...Unfinished Projects

I have anxiety about starting projects and then finishing them.  Crafty stuff is to be fun, right?  My head reels with ideas.  I have boxes of bottle caps, so many that my friends even save them.  Friends that come to the house and have a beer know exactly what cabinet the bottle caps go in and I have been collecting them for so long they have even stopped asking me what the hell I was going to do with them all.  I'm gonna bottle cap a table, or a house, or you know...do art.  I get on sewing kicks.  Like my computer bags...Then I don't even want to do them, well that usually happens when someone says ,"hey I want one of those, I'll pay ya".  BLAhhhh.  Yesterday I decided to finish some of my little projects I started so that I could start knitting or crocheting...since it is getting cold.  I need some Mittens!  I have baskets and baskets of cool scraps so I thought, hell, I could make some little bags to put "stuff" in.  Nothing in mind...just use the scraps, so that I could get something else.
I started this cute little zipper bag.  Should have taken about 30 minutes to make, but what did I do?  I put the zipper in upside down, on the wrong side.  Story of my life.  So the 30 minute bag became the 2 hour thread rip out and mess.  But I did get it all out and redone.  It's cute...jazzy...something I would buy if I ever spent any money on cool stuff.  This is why I make things.  Every time I go to Anthropologie or some cool little boutique I say, "I want that...Shit...45$...I'll make it".  The birth of too many projects.

backwards zipper...nice and typical/

then I have this stuff I need to finish
computer bag

one of these little bags needs a butting hole...which I hate doing...so there it sits

But I did start over on the travel bag that i screwed the zipper up on and got that done
cute huh?
I'm hoping to relieve some of my crafty pressures by getting organized.  I'm going to open up my knitting bag and see whats in there.  Make myself some mittens.  and try to relax

Day of Urology

Did I tell you guys that the other day I saw more dick than a whore on Colfax? Well I did! Big Dick, little dick, hairy dick, big balled dick...no balled dick (if you can believe that one) and inside the dick. There are truly some things which can not be explained without seeing it first hand....to me, Urology is one of them.

please watch the video...it's educational  :)

Many people do not realize that when they do anything with the penis the Dr. goes through that tiny little hole at the end of the penis. It involves a cool machine which looks similiar to a video game stick and lots of water...

tool for cramming up the penis hole....

the Beautiful Prostate

Yeah...Lot's of water. It was amazing. Did you know they scrape the prostate off with a "hot loop" in order to widen the area? Well you do now, and I saw it all first hand. It's not all doom and grossness in the urology surgery area. There was some humor. The nurse (not me) shaved the wrong side of this super hairy Yeti and the Dr. had a meltdown and said as punishment she would have to reshave so that at least it looked like they had some sense of what they were doing... Then some guy actually sat up why they were doing the procedure!!! Yikes scared the piss put me (no pun intended). MORE DRUGS!!!!!! Don't worry, the man and his penis were fine. I on the other hand was totally freaked out!

So, so far I have experienced many things and still haven't figured out what I like, even penises didn't keep my interest for very long. Maybe I can get some good suggestions for nursing. I think I might like VA. They have lots of stories, lot's of issues and could use a few good nurses. Hmmmm? I gotta go back to school. You guys have a great weekend....I'm gonna have myself a Martini after school. One more week down.

hey de ho neighbor...

It's Tuesday...but you can see that from the time stamp.  I had my frst Operating Room Clinicals today.  Saw a double bilateral total knee replacement.  Not nearly as bloody as I thought it would be.  Not nearly as exciting either.  The scrub techs had a more exciting job than me.  Wah wah wah...  One more day of OR then I can move to the next subject.

I want to take a minute to not write anything great.  I should be writing a paper...but instead I'll take a minute to tell you about how much I love the Pumpkin Patch.  We went this weekend.  The big thing was the Tractor Ride.  It was such a big deal that Olive thinks she wants to be a farmer so that she can tote people around on a tractor.  She doesn't seem to understand that unless she is ONLY going to have a pumpkin patch...the only people she would be toting around would be migrant workers.  Oh well, why ruin the dream?  The Pumkin Patch is free and we get to get as many Pumpkins we can carry.  I LOVE FREE!!!  I got us up at 7 AM so that we could get first pick at the best pumpkins and we did GREAT!...Also got some cute pictures.  I edited them on Picnik...Does anyone else use Picnik?

So what else you ask?  I'm sick of school and on top of that cooking dinners have become my least favorite chore in the world.  Is that wrong?  Is it wrong to offer your kids Pasta every night? I don't know, I just can't get my pea brain together enough to actually make anything worth eating...Why oh why can't kids just drink beer like me?  It's got everything we need.  Damn that business about growing and needing nutrients.

Next....Ilin wants to learn how to crochet so that he can make those little creatures and I don't have time to sit and teach him.  Anyone know of a super easy kid friendly book he can read and learn on his own?   He's been making these cool softies...they aren't perfect but they are creative and he thinks he wants to try to sell them on Etsy to earn money for his snowboard pass or something.  So I want to get him a book with actual patterns in it.

that's all for now. I need to write a paper

Pissing off the Parents

picture from "spot rehab"
doesn't that swing look fun?

Yeah, I know I'm too vocal. Many people don't believe the same way I do...That is fine with me...Maybe I'm a "special needs" type person.

This morning a friend asked me how my Preschool Clinical went...It was fine, for the most part. The school was really cool. It was set up 50 years ago for children who had no other means of education except institutionally. Children who were out of the "norm" back then. This school even had a flippin swimming pool for the preschoolers to do swimming integration. Great therapy pool for the handicapped kids. That part was really neat.

My problem is the actual "labeling" of kids. Don't you think, although not very cost effective, all little kids should get pool therapy? All little kids would benefit from preschool and integrating with all types of kids? Preschoolers are so "untouched" at that point they are like sponges!
The kids I worked with yesterday were a variety...The ones I could not quite get a grasp of were the "sensory delayed kids".....
These are kids who have no cognitive issues but don't care for loud noises and textures. Here's my thing...the classes were 1/3 dev. delayed kids, 1/3 "normal", and 1/3 dx of ADD, Sensory, ADHD whatever...but the big thing to me was that they were preschool age? Really? Looked a lot like parenting issues to me. I didn't say that...i just questioned and stated that I thought ALL preschool/elementary kids would benefit from this type of schooling and the OT( occupational therapist) went into this diatribe how these kids are "specially funded" to get this "treatment"...and once again I stated, yea, I understand, but wouldn't be awesome to have this integrated into school day activities? And she flipped and said this is why we need OT's we can't just train regular teachers to do this type of work!!!.. (look lady, I'm not trying to downplay your job...or elliminate it!)
Really? All it is is obstacle courses, bubble blowing and wobble boards...just seems to me any 3 year old would benefit from it.
whatever...
I don't believe in these over diagnosed cases of ADD ,ADHD, Sensory deprivation...not for 3 year olds ( I tell you what, when you see a kid with true ADHD or Autism, it's a bunch different than the hyper kid with the parent saying "calm down, calm down")...it they are 17 and can't stand the seams on their socks and the sound of clocks ticking that is a different issue.

Ilin, my kid, now 11, would never dance with the other preschoolers at the library "sing and dance" stuff. He would sit in a corner and put his fingers in his ears...same with singing happy bday, that had to be the worst part of his yearly birthday experience...also hated to Swing or any wierd movements, no carousels, no Disney World, nada....doesn't like his food to mix on his plate...but did I go and get special funding? Did I put him in a school with a "label" at age 3?
NO...I just said, hey Ilin, that's cool, you don't have to ride on the merry go round, it is a bit freaky...and if you don't want to do the Hokie Pokie...I don't blame ya. I just ask that you please stop rolling those damn hotwheels back and forth, back and forth, back and forth...because it's making ME crazy. The kid is gifted now. Highest placement in his class one of the highest in the state. He rides a skateboard, he snowboards and he still hates to sing and dance but does play the guitar and Bass (upright) and has quite the ear for music. He has a shitload of friends. What if I had labeled him...put him in Special Needs classes? Would it be the same? I don't think so.

We have enough labels in our society. Why start at preschool? Why not let the kids develop at their own pace with the guidance and HELP from adults? Even dev. delayed kids like to hang with the average kids. We try to get them "out" of the labeling situation, yet as parents we want to find a reason or diagnosis for any goofy thing our kid's do. They are kids...They are ODD. Especially when you can't "control" their little peronalities anymore. What really sucks? Is when your kid gets a true illness...Leukemia? Down's? Head Injury? kind of makes not wanting to hear loud sounds and change your clothes 3 times a day a little trivial...doesn't it?

I'm sorry if I offend anyone...well not really. It is America and if you are reading this I have probably all ready offended you by saying I'm voting for Peace...or that I don't think you need a degree to fix trucks and do electrical wiring...or that I like Ted Nuggent but am a Vegetarian

the miracle of life

OH MY GOD!!!!   yesterday at clinicals, the ones I had nightmares about all night, were awesome.

I walked in the door at 700 am, the teacher pushed me towards a "Salty" RN and I was off.  I walked into the room, did my silly introductions and 1 hour later was looking at the busy end of a very pregnant lady!  She gave birth at 840 am to a beautifully perfect 8.2 oz baby girl.  I got to help with the entire thing.  Afterwards I did a full baby assessment and helped with fundus massage (which, unless you take A&P) won't care or know what it is.  I have never in my life seen a baby being born from that angle!!!!  I blubbered like an idiot, well quietly blubbered, it was so beautiful and for that woman to let me stand there and help she must have been high as a kite.  Anyways, it made my Uterus ache.  I was high on baby smell all day. Bobby announced, twice, that he was fixed and to stop talking about it and not to get any hare-brained ideas like pulling some Angelina Jolie adoption ring.....what a way to shoot down my high.

I'm sure today I'll be snapped back into reality because I have to go to "headstart" Pre-school and observe 4 yearolds....like I don't do that for free at home.

I hope all is well.  I miss my Synda...I miss my Sissy...and my Kandy....and I know this is due to lack of money, time, and the holiday spirits floating around.  I'm broke, but refuse to accept the obvious and just keep going forward.    2 more months of school then I graduate...and can work, get back into a better $$$ situation and start planning for the next round of school.

Oh yeah, I wanted to tell everyone about TUT    www.tut.com
I'm not sure what the entire website is...someone sent it to me and then you do this little OATH about being the best you can be, and it sends you messages from the universe everyday.  I read the email first thing in the morning and it really helps.   The other day it told me to stop focusing on, but keep in sight, the big picture...focus on the small, do the best you can do and the big picture will be there.

yeah...small is good.  That is about the most my brain can handle.
