This morning on the way in to work I heard this fabulous little "resolution" on NPR. It was about "not taking it personal" I am going to incorporate this into my New Year's goals.
Don't take it personal, so easily said, yet so hard to do, but if you can, life's doors open oppose to close. I have told Snowy many times that when she gets a reply or an odd answer from her father, to remember where it is coming from. I think we all need to just continue to do the best we can and give the love and support we do, to the people we encounter, and NOT take it personally when they are unable to give us the response that we want. It's not personal, people give what they can and know how to.
I will try to do this when Bobby blames me, or someone else, for a trivial problem. It's not his fault, it's just the way he is. It's not my fault, and I can't do anything about it. No amount of yelling is going to change it, but when I don't react in a "personal manner" then it just slides away. Water off a duck's back. Zip.
If someone sends me a mistake I made at work. It's not personal, it's work. I'll try to do it better. It's the only way to get things done.
The hardest aspect of this is in relationships, as I stated above. Everyone has their own agenda and each of us cross another's paths on our own way. Instead of getting hung up on the issues brought on by others, just let it go. How liberating. They have their life to live and we each have our's. Just do your best, be your best, and pay it forward, don't expect too much and I believe sooner or later it will come back in gold.

give this a try:
Go thru a Starbucks drive thru or even at the counter and buy the person behind you their coffee. Just ask the window person how many people she sees in the car...usually one or 2 and give her 10$ and say, "I want to pay it forward and buy their coffee, could you let them know...and here is a few extra dollars just in case they get something crazy :) " Something so trivial won't change the world, but it will give a single person hope for mankind. I swear. Try it....and let me know. :)

projects
these are the 2 bags I made for the girls. felt and fabric.
big one is a carry bag, the other is a camera bag
close up of the camera bag
little softies for the guest bedroom.
I am also working on a skull sweater for Olive. just started the back of it today. The neck about killed me. I actually didn't understand the directions. No matter how many times I read it it was like reading Chinese.
getting ready for the new year :)
It's going to be a good thing. I swear. Things will come together for all of us...I feel there will be major changes for all of us on our plates, even for the few of us who have been stuck in the same circle. The young princess's are off to NY city in the early Spring and Didi and I have to try not to worry. Yes, it is just for a visit, but these girls...uh, what should I say...hopefully the goal to learn the entire subway system won't lead them to the pits of Hell. :) They are smart, so we will give them the benefit of a doubt. If anyone who reads this has any suggestions for them as to where to visit and great places to eat....email me!
My few goals for the new year are slim but grand. I hope you have made some goals also.
1. no more paper towels...I am making fabric cloths that can be thrown in the washer. Easy as pie. Hopefully we will be as easily adaptable.
2. My first 5k. Spring time.
3. Get thru nursing school with as little stress as possible and keep the big goal in mind.
4. Take a vacation for myself, either just with the gals or just with Bobby. No kids or stress (not that those 2 go hand in hand but you know what I mean).
I'm at work today getting caught up on all the crap I had leftover from last week. Olive had the flu and hopefully this will be the last family illness I need to deal with for a while. It's just too much to be a working mom and be the one they call for when they are sick. I guess that is the price we pay.
I must leave now and get to work. I will post those "project pictures one at a time this evening while Bobby is at practice"

almost xmas
Well, it's been a while. We went to Princess Wishes...I know for sure now that I'm not fond of anything that involves showtunes and the "on ice" part....Unless it's dragqueens.
We had our holiday party. It was nice. I will post pictures shortly.
My holiday shopping is almost done. I only need to buy for Olive. The last part is wrapping everything. I have pictures of what I did for the girls, but I don;t want to post them til I give them to them.
We have had the stomach bug at our house. Olive, bless her heart was so sick for about 3 days. Dry heaves are not fun for little ones! Yesterday I went home from work with a queasy stomach and low and behold Bobby came home too. Lord knows I can't be sick by myself for a day. He crawled into bed and started whining like a beat puppy. Made me so mad. Of course I still had to get up and fix the kids dinner and do all the parent stuff because " he was soooo sick".
What is wrong with men? Big baby

Good Things and Bad Things All at Once
Snowing again today it's beautiful.
Tonight Princess Olive ,Princess Titsy and I are all going to Princess Wishes On Ice. Bobby has agreed to drive us there so that we don't get lost. I always get lost!. I'm so glad Princess Titsy is going with us because I would never make it on my own. I am bringing a flask. That's all I'm saying.
Here are a few of the good things that are going on and happening. I got into nursing school and start in January. We ordered our iMAC. I got my Xmas bonus from work and I will get my incentive bonus before Xmas. The holidays are here :) and the Xmas party is around the corner.
Here are a few of the crappy things that are going on. My tax guy filed my taxes wrong and claimed Ilin, when he was to be claimed by his dad this year so I have to pay 1600 to the IRS at Xmas time :(. I'm just going to put it on a credit card and hope for the best in the future. I'm stresses about the school thing because I don't have much support from Bobby. I will still have to work full time and go to school on a 20 hour schedule...and maintain family peace.
I need to remember that going to school is only for 5 months then 5 months again for an approximate 30 an hour pay raise. After that I will be able to do the things I enjoy without stress and I will be able to ensure my kids get what they need. I want to take my family on vacations around the world... If I keep that in the picture, I can do this.
Well, I better get to work. I hope everyone has a great weekend. oh yeah , I hope us girls get together to do our hair. :) that will make me happy

Turkey Day via The Veggie
Hey !!!
My sissy came in at 8 am Thursday morning and we picked her up with only hvaieng to circle the airport passenger pickup 5 times!!!! Not bad I say!... I was a little peeved I missed my Macy's Day Parade (my own personal holiday tradition), but it was worth it.
We got home and immediately got shopping for Turkey day stuff, we were pushing the clock because I knew the bird needed to be in by 1130. Me being the non meat eater supplying the meat, I didn't want to screw things up. I found a recipe online that swore it was a juicy turkey
http://www.elise.com/recipes/archives/000037moms_roast_turkey.php
So that is what we did.
I had to have Sissy open the plastic bag because I immediately started retching at the sight of the gross juice that poured out, but once she got it undone and rinsed I was ok...She held open the cavity as we cramed lemons and herbs inside...we noticed there wasn't enough room for everything thing then low and behold! we were stuffing the wrong end...You gotta go in thru the other end ...not the neck end. Boy once we figured that out we felt like pros.

breast side down (that's the key!)

the only minute problem we had was we weren't sure how to make the gravy...So Princess Didi made it :0)The Dinner was yummy, we had plenty of food, plenty of drink and plenty of funny stories.

Let it Snow, Let it snow !!!!
( Pearl Street Mall Boulder)It snowed last night...absolutely gorgous. Of course it's always gorgous when it's the first snow of the year.
Olive sprung out of bed like a cannon screeching "open the curtains!!!" and then in the perfect Princess form she announces "Yes!, Now I can wear my new boots!!!" I'm not sure where that child came from....but I'll keep her.
I brought my camera in this morning and spent half the a.m. trying to figure it out. Obvioulsy I can take pictures it's getting the stupid things off the camera. I finally got them off and sent them to the Princesses via email sans photoshop, so gals, if they are not to your liking I will be photoshopping, cropping, and fixing later tonight...and then we will all be beeeuuuutiful :)
I want to discuss a little something that I talked to Jenny about yesterday. I'm losing my Ass. literally. I asked Jenny about it and she thinks maybe I should look at some photos, but you gals know how I am about pictures. Secondly, I would ask you, but you would all lie to me and say it's fine. Maybe it is fine. I don't know. I just don'e want to be assless. It's bad enough my boobs are shrinking...BUT MY BUTT TOO? Someone really hates me.
are you girls ready for the "gathering" tomorrow?

GOBBLE GOBBLE
I feel a wee bit crappy since I haven't run in a week. Maybe today? We'll see.
We got the Christmas lights up. I need a few more things outside to make my holiday decor look the way I want. I'll try to buy them this week. Cleaned up my laundry room and in that time we discoverd all the little mice that have come inside since the cold. There must have been one inside, and the rest in the garage. I feel bad for the little guys because Bobby immediately sets traps and catches them...more like kills them. He got the one that was in the house then set one in the garage and was so very proud of himself when the trap contained not 1, but 2 little stupid mice who attempted to feast on my organic peanutbutter at the same time and the bar squashed right down on their necks. Olive threw a fit! Bad Daddy...I love those mice!!!
So, back to the Thanksgiving party. Bobby was irritated that I planed a party without him being involved. I have told him multiple times that we were all getting together, but he felt left out and uninvolved in my "so called life". I tried to explain to him that I ask his opinion all the time and he always says "I don't know or I don't care" so it seems a bit of a mute point to me. Doesn't it to you? He takes it as me not loving him and always putting him second or third. Oh, well. He's a big boy. He'll have to deal with it. One amazing thing though is taht he apologized for throwing the phone at the wall and breaking it into a million pieces. It was pretty amazing, the fact that he apologized....we never apologize, so I'm thinking this might indicate that he realized at some point he was being a bit of a butt, but who knows he is a man.
gotta work....i'll be back later

LORDY LORDY
Well,
The weekend is upon us...Yahoo. I'm sooo ready. I have so much stuff I need to get done I can hardly think straight. I'll just have a few beers and think sideways, how about that?
First of all, I want to say how proud of my friend, Ms. Jones, for taking the pledge to be healthy/healthier. It's so awesome. My sweet friend Jenny, whom I have never met in person, but talk to online...we met each other on Self.com. We became workout buddies and encouraged each other when we were trying to get on track with poor eating and working out. We are both petite, but love the beer :) so losing a few pounds or tightening up a little in the middle is hard. She is still the one I talk to when I have a big accomplishment or amess up, and she always moves me forward. So, Ms. Jones I suggest you try Self.com...check out the forum sections and see if you can do the "Self Challenge".
Turkey day is coming up,,,or nonturkey day for me :0) i love the side dishes. We are having a little get together and we can all just relax, chit chat and have some yummy food, wine and conversation. Can't wait!
Next, I really need to pick a date for the Holiday Mansion Party. I want to get a new dress...Maybe we should change the theme from Dress up to something goofy this year, but I like to get dressed up...and I think it gives us girls a reason to get our hairdone. I want to have a bartender this year and I hope to find some single men to invite for the single girls. Maybe we should put a "craigslist posting" up for that? Any suggestions?
I gotta get back to work right now, but this weekend I'll write more. I am going to try to figure out how to make it so we can all post.

Softies, mmmmmmm
My new favorite thing in the entire world...Softies...little creatures you hand sew and decorate that appear to take on a life of their own. All I want to do right now is go home and make some. I did not make that Softie...but it's cute huh?
I need buttons...thread...felt...fabric....got any laying around you would like to get rid of? I will take it. I have been feeling exceptionally crafty lately so watch out!

Been a while...So I ran around the block :)
Well,
It's been a while, a long while...you know why? Because I forgot my password.
But, the genius that I am used the same old password so I was able to log back in and torture all of you. Well, actually just torture myself because no one reads this. Well, after today some people will read it because I am going to send a link to some of my friends....reason being they can make sure I'm not going crazy via this Blog Spot. One never knows what your truely odd friend is doing in their free time at their desk.
I did want to write down that I ran my first race. I ran the Longmont Turkey Trot, and NO, I didn't win a Turkey, but I did win some self confidence back. I had misplaced that damn selfconfidence somewhere with my missing tights...but I found it. I ran a 2 mile race in 18.37 minutes. Now , we all know that is no Ethiopian pace, but it's quite a quick trot for me. I'm proud of myself and that's that...I won't torture my friends anymore by asking them if they knew I placed 4th in my age group. Go Myssi, Go Myssi.
So, I am going to send a link to my best girls and they can read my lively hood on line. I gotta get home now...I ahve lots of crafts and crap I need to get to before the holidays...

Oprah did it to me
The other day I managed to get off work early. I got home and because noone was around I grabbed a beer and crawled under the heated blanket and flipped on Oprah. I figured it would be a nice story about rape or AIDS but to my dismay it was all about the "Secret". I decided to watch; only other show on was a POKEMAN cartoon. It,the Oprah show, was the show and the day that has changed my past 2 weeks.
Now, if you haven't heard of the Secret, I'm not going to go into detail. The belief system has been around forever. The lowdown is that energy is energy...what you put out, you get back. HMMMM seems too easy, but try it yourself. Walk around with a big fat grin on your face and see how many people smile back at you. It is a simple feat yet it works and actually brings joy to others. Energy is energy, good brings good, bad brings bad. Got it?
The only problem I have with this is they talk about how everyone is here for a reason. Yeah! Here for a reason. This is great, that means I MUST have a reason, Oprah says, so it must be true...here is where the issue comes. I sat there, peeling the label from my empty beer thinking, "reason, calling, hmmm". Am I here to take care of kids? Please say that isn't so. I have been waiting to get into nursing school, is that it? Am I here to make people, ie: husband, kids, dogs, people at work, lives easier? I couldn't come up with my calling! Damn Oprah.
The weekend came around and I found myself asking Bobby, who by the way knows his calling and has since he was 10, "Do you know what my calling is?" "How the heck would I know your calling? Why don't you try an art class?" His answer to everything...take a class. I thought some more. Jazz Club, Art Gallery, Photography? Nothing. Damn Oprah.I asked my 10 year old, "What do you think I should do when I grow up?" He says,"Mom you make good salad. I don't know? But I want to be a Hobo that can make balloon animals." Great, I think to myself even my kid knows his calling and note to self, save money for his therapy.
For 5 days I have been asking complete strangers if they know their calling and if they have any suggestions on my calling. You would be amazed at how many people KNOW where and what they are here for! I on the other hand can't start my Secret Life because i'm clueless. I have received some great ideas. My favorite idea is to become an elephant trainer. This suggestion came with the note attatched, GOOGLE where to get an elephant. That person is a genius, he knew that would be my first question, "Where the heck will I get an elephant?" My last idea was a body builder (mostly to just see if I could complete the task) and when I told my sister, she said, "Myssi, that's a great idea...go for it, do it for your self....plus you'll look great sitting on your elephant."
She's right. I'll look great on my elephant. I can't wait to get started. Bobby thinks I'm insane anyways and he's pretty busy with band stuff so he may not even notice. The kids will enjoy the elephant.
My calling and the Secret. I want to put it out there. Yessiree, Oprah did it to me. Think about it. The same day I figured out my Calling I was sent an email from the school I'm waiting to get into that it could be another 3 years before I get in. Screw Nursing school. Elephants, smiling and buff body.
I'll keep you posted

All out of IT
The other day when I got home from work, my other half,Bobby, says to me, "Hey, where's my kiss?" My reply was quite quick and short. "Sorry, all out of that."Yup, all out. Gave the rest to the 3 year old's knee on my way in the door. I had an extra, but the 10 year old was having a bad day and I had to pass one over there....so in the short form, I'm all out. Next time, promise.
It happens so slowly, you almost don't realize it is happening. I used to sleep naked, prance around the house naked, even dance naked. It would make me happy and it would make Bobby laugh. Really laugh (another thing that disappears without much notice). As I slipped into bed I heard this voice say, "What are you wearing?" ?? I looked down, and didn't think a bunch about it. I'm wearing my ratty gingham nightgown with hairdye stains and 2 buttons missing...sexy huh? I got into bed. Turned over and went to sleep thinking, "I'm all out of that." Yup, gone, finito, no mas.
I don't think I could remember how to French Kiss anymore even though I see it on TV and it reminds of the good old days. I sometimes feel a hand on my arm or waist while I'm sleeping, but usually it is the 3 year olds foot as she tries to sneak into my forbidden sleep zone. I'm not sure where it went. Bobby doesn't seem to question it. Maybe he has something else? Maybe he looks at me differently now. Whatever the case, I try to dream about, I try to remember what it was like before I ran out of IT. It must be somewhere, waiting for me to find it. Somewhere waiting for the perfect moment to POP out and say , "Here I am...remember ME?" Boy, what a great day that will be. The day I throw that old ratty nightgown a way and someone actually looks at me again and laughs. So if anyone finds my "IT" hanging out at a posh nightclub reminiscing about the good-ol -days tell it to get its ass home...we need it.
