4 generation slumber party

Well I missed the premiere because I was out of town, can't wait to hear about it.
I was in small town USA for the annual pancake supper and bingo night. When I say small, I don't think most people really know what I mean. I'm talking no stoplights in the town small. We had so much fun. I didn't win anything but Ryland won a couple of things. There were a ton of prizes and the pancakes were D-lish. My favorite moment of the weekend was hanging out one night in the bedroom with my Grandma, my Mom and my little girl. A four generation slumber party...talking, laughing, telling stories. It was, for me, the highlight of the weekend. Age is definitely just a number. We were 4 girls giggling and talking in the back bedroom, completely spontaneous, it will be remembered forever!!!

tonight...

(click and see the trailer)

Tonight is Bobby's Movie Premiere and guess what????
I have Nothing to wear...Not that anyone is looking, because the entire group is made up of lovely gals who look like this...

It's ok...I'm confident in my "intelligence"....which helps...hahahaha damn...I wish I hadn't drink, drank, drunk all those calories last week/month when I decided to start running again.  I actually thought last night...4 veggie nuggets and then I can indulge in One Tuaca and Gingerale...then I rationalized the fact if I didn't have the Gingerale I could have more Tuaca...(see the intelligence factor at work)
I'll be able to fit into something...I'm sure...
whatever, at least I'm not having my Monthly Visitor.
Whatever, what I don't have in Beauty...I have in age and personality...wait a minute, that isn't what I meant...Let's just say I have personality.

good enough...I have to go drag my ass up to the closet and find something.  it's 1030 am and I only have 8 hours to figure it out...I'll probably end up in jeans and a tshirt.

any suggestions?

Spring wooohooo

Pretty girl

Last weekend we had our party and went to Pearl Street with Olive.  It was beautiful......here are some of Miss O's antics which We deal with on a daily basis.  Yes she is a hoot.

Holy Moly Batman...

It appears I have been stuck in the Bat Cave.  I took some much needed time to myself to ....ummm let's see, have our 3rd annual "Liquor Egg Hunt",  Get my calendar in order, have some time with Olive,  Have some much needed pre-teen talk with Ilin (you know , the importance of deoderant and changing your underwear), and sleep.
We have another hectic weekend coming up.  Bobby's movie premiere....OOOhhHH....which I have nothing to cram on my stumpy body...for Olive or  me...and studies for school...and I definitely need to get some spinach in the ground.  I'm almost afraid its too late for spinach.  I'll do it anyways...my god Myssi it's only 99 cents worth of seeds.
I have many pictures...I promise I will post tonight...party...My day with chubs in Boulder...and the colors of Spring here.
I have many wants and needs for the bags...and Synda and I have to have our "mommy liquor time" to work on the Grrryoga Bag.
off to nursing hell...
oh yeah I watched chest tubes being pulled yesterday...yummy

Can't worry about it.

How does it work that I can plan my entire life out, step by step, including all the small details of fabulous projects I'm going complete in the future, but I can't seem to figure out my plans for the weekend? Short term kills me. Is this normal? Is it normal to see the future with no beginning? Man, it give me a headache and stress combined.

We got our schedule for nursing next semester and I knew when they were handing it out that I shouldn't have looked. I heard all the students saying, "jeez, this is going to kill me!" This is coming from mostly 24 yr olds or wives of people who support them...and I thought, "shit". Just like that. "Shit..SHIT". (Don't look at it Momma, no sense in freakin' yourself out yet)...Then like magic, one dropped on the desk in front of me,

"NOOOOO".

You see, my new motto is to try not to get freaked about things I don't have control over...this is one of them.

What did I do? I looked at it, started adding up the days of the week and the hours in class vs. how many hours I can squeek in between 4 am and the start of class, then maybe I can drive back to work after classes at 4 pm and work another 3 hours, go home and cook dinner, help the kids with homework, get them in bed, try to do my homework, and then start all over....5 days a week for 15 weeks. I didn't weep at that point. I just smiled and thought to myself. Quit your belly achin', I'm sure there is some poor person in South Africa that would love to change places with me right now. OK? Got it.

This is it...I go home and when I should study I think about sewing or where I can go on vacation.
I think about finishing the knitting or taking Olive to Disney World. I think about what I would do if I had time, more time....

I often think maybe I should take a loan out for the $$$ so I wouldn't have to work. I live debt free, basically, and I couldn't bare to carry the stress of a loan. Any suggestions?

dreaming of....

Fun with the Digital

as you can tell I don't know how to use photoshop...i don't even think my mac has it.
you would think it would...but I'm gonna get it so I can get rid of freckles, Zits, and spaghetti stains, since it seems to be a theme with us 2 girls

Olive and I took about 52 billion pictures of each other on the digital camera...it's fun, and always cheers me up, even though I hate looking at myself, I can look at Olive's goofy face all night. spaghetti stains and all

I also finished Synda's bag last night and then starting working on a reversible dress for the girls

Go Pope Go

I love the Pope
I Love the Pope for the mere fact he tools about in the

Good Morning

Ok, for the record I got my class I needed. Not easily, and only a few tears were shed. It appears I have been on the "wait list" for so long the Prerequisites have changed. At one point I think I might have told the adviser to "push a button and make it right"...I am not taking that extra class. Sometimes it doesn't appear that they look much further than then end of their nose to see the issue. I was sad to hear that my "personal" Nurse Adviser, Jan, said "well, looks like you have to take the class". WTF? Can you not look at the class and see I've all ready taken the equivalent of the class and it would be not only redundant, but backwards, kind of like taking basic math after you have made an A in Calculus. It's a 100 level class and I'm moving into the 300 level. DUH...anyways, I'll stop my yippity yippen about it and just say I don't have to take the damn class.

I'll write more later...got to do some work.

quick angry post

Well, not angry...just pissy.
I tried to register for the Micro biology I need to get on the RN list and it won't let me register. It says Prereq error. So far none of the other nursing students I have texted said they could register either! Another nursing school Red Tape Dilemma. There are only 23 spots in the class and we HAVE to have it...can you see the problem here? I have all ready been on the list for 5 years prior to this. Of course we are all doing clinicals today and won't be able to speak to a counselor until 3 this afternoon which means the class will be closed. GOSH Damn this fricken crap. I have clinicals at Radiology today...I came into work at 4am to work and register for school (to make sure I got the class)...and here I am Pissed. grrrrrrrr.
I tell you what, they don't want this little red head to have a blow up at the registration desk. I took a screen shot of my registration online and the time. and then sent 3 emails.

i just want to go to bed

I had to before I went to sleep

I made this tiny little bag...it was smaller than I wanted it to be but good practice.  It holds my camera perfect....okie dokie...time for ZZZzzZZzzzzzz

too punk for yoga...and crafty wafty day

So, Synda and I went to yoga again today. I have come to the realization that I'm too punk rock for yoga. She swears Bikrim is cooler, but I have a hard time getting past the Ohming. I love the way I feel afterwards and the fact it works muscles I didn't even know I had...It's just too loving of an environment. I'm gonna keep going...just to prove to myself that it is just my freaky side that gets weirded out...that it is all real normal...real normal.
When we were done we headed with Bobby and the Princess's(olive and ryland) to the Pumphouse brewery to reward Bobby for babysitting with Espresso Stout. Happy daddoo....

...then we headed home for the day of crafting. I had printed patterns and got most everything ready. Synda was going to make some headbands and I, a Hobo Bag.
We stopped at the fabric store and got some stuff and rushed home to get started.  Synda couldn't find the fabric for the headbands but I found some cool stuff for a bag that appealed to my pocketbook and got started....In 5 hours, yes 5 hours, Synda was able to crochet an awesome hat for Ilin Blue and I cut and put together a very snappy reversible hobo bag which will be for sale on Etsy (see the store on the side).
I was impressed with our craftiness...and we barely drank.  Hmmmm what's up with that?  There are the pictures.  I have to make dinner and then study..Yuk!!!  almost finals!

food?

I picked the wrong time to go to the grocery store today. I just needed to pick up a few things so I was thinking it would be a quick little trip, in and out. The lines were crazy long so I had time to check out what people were buying. Have you ever done that? It is amazing what people eat. I couldn't believe how much "crap" people were buying. It reminded me of my college days, but these were grown men and women, mostly women...I'm assuming most have families. I would have to say that about 95 percent of what people had in their carts was pre-packaged, junky food. Food... if you want to call it that.

Next time you go shopping, check out what people have in their carts, it is so interesting and sad. I did see a few people with reusable bags, that always makes me smile!

Since I played Hookey

I thought I would upload some pictures

We went to the Butterfly Pavillion the weekend my sister left.  We needed some Olive time.  Mommy held the big scary tarantula without winging it across the room...so did daddy, but he wasn't scared...Olive yelled, much to the tarantula's dismay, " Smash IT Mommy!!!!, Smash It!"....pretty funny.  (not so funny to the keeper of the arachnid)

Olive, what is in your mouth?
awww, that's nice

please God, don't let her have her Mommy's nose
grrrrrr    evil eyes
Olive's Happy because Mommy and Daddoo are happy
they are having a beer.

It was a nice day, no breakdowns nothing.  Daddoo only got cranky when the humidity started to make him sweat, but I said that is what you get for never taking off your leather jacket.

Well, I better go see what is going on at school.  :0)
I got a nap in and dyed my hair and did some situps and my self.com workout. so it is all jusified.  really

Sleep, beautiful Sleep

I went to bed last night at 830 and I slept....all night. I had dreams of Mike Rowe, from Dirty jobs, and my patients at the hospital. I didn't care they were in the same dream because bottom line I SLEPT. Straight through, from 830 pm to 340 am, when my little alarm sang me that more than irritating wake up song. I wish I could have slept one hour longer.

something to see

Last year Chad wanted to take me to see a movie at a cool little place that serves coffee, you eat dinner, hang out. Just my kind of place. I hadn't heard of the movie but he thought I would love it. Well, with our schedule, it just didn't happen. Last night he brought home a DVD to watch and I didn't recognize the title. He reminded me of how he had mentioned the movie a while back and he just knew it would be something I would like. I hadn't seen any previews for it so I didn't know what to expect, which I think is the best way to see a movie. Sometimes I just hate previews, they give too much away. Well I LOVED the movie. I loved it so much that I want all of you to see it. Maybe you have seen it or seen a trailer for it, but if you haven't just go get it and watch it. It is one of those movies that leaves you thinking...my favorite kind.

big pictures

When I think of my life, I think in Big Pictures then it seems to go to smaller pictures then before I know what has happened, there are no pictures. No big dreams...just day to day things that keep me so occupied I can barely figure out how to squeeze in a grocery run. What I need to do is re-evaluate what and why I am doing the things I am doing. Sometimes I do things, like going back to school, to prove it to myself. Then I start thinking...if I get through this, I can make sure my kids will have $$ to enjoy their teen years and go to school and I'll be able to stop saying, "we can't afford that." Today, I just want to make some money and go on a real vacation. Where does all this leave me? It leaves me spending all my time going to school for I don't know what, except for the fact I'm not a quitter.

A few Little Thoughts

First, on this day for all you thinking of Martin Luther King , I'd like to just say ...."I'm so glad you didn't sneeze." (you can look it up, it's one of my favorite things)

I thought today as I drove to work in the early morning RAIN...yes RAIN...not snow....this is IT...next week the trees will be sprouting the green buds that change everyone's demeanor here in Colorado. It always comes the same way...the Spring Rain...then one day you are driving to work and you say"My god...is that green?" I do this in my head every Spring as if I was never going to see anything but brown trees, grass and or snow for the rest of my life. Then everyones spirits change...we are done with snow, we are ready for Wildflowers. Gardening. Motorcycles. Outside Parties. YAhhhhOOooOOo.

I think....Spring has Sprung....boing.

clinicals

Well...I did it !!!!! (takes a bow)

I put in a real IV in a real sick person!..First of all let me thank Synda for letting me practice one time on her little hand EVEN after we had been drinking all morning. That is a true friend...good thing we stopped when we did, drinking that is, because we had almost convinced my Brother in law to let us try a catheter! ;)
So my patient yesterday was a 83 year old man with Aphagia (loss of speech) He had an AC IV (from the ambulance techs) in and it had bent in the crook of his arm...so I was asked, to much of my dismay, to place a new line. I thought to myself...83, sick...probably no veins. Low and behold the man had great veins...and with a shaky hand and a few deep breaths I got it in...just like that. I even surprised myself. I got everything in, flushed the line with saline, and taped that bugger down from here to Tibet. The Patient lifted his arm and said "It's like a piece of Art" That's right, mister...that thing ain't comin' out til you go home. Tape, tagaderm, tape, tape and maybe more tape...just for safety :) anyways...I'm done...now I'm going to move on to bigger better things...Suppositories!! mmmmmmm
