Guest room for under $200

Before...yuk

Well.we finished it tonight, just in time for my sister.  It still needs a TV because all guest need to relax with a little satellite, but that will have to wait for tax return.  There is a perfect place for a flat screen TV right in the nook.  It needs a bit more decor but it's good enough.

some things I'm diggin on

I thought I would share with all of you some things that I really like at the moment.
I love this yoga bag on the left. Check it out at http://www.sakayoga.com/ I saw it a year ago, fell in love with it and forgot about it. I rediscovered it the other day, I just might have to buy it.

MOO Cards! They are so fun. I use them for business cards. You can load your own pictures and use them for whatever you want, use your imagination... http://www.moocards.com/
Coconut water, I LOVE this stuff. This if my favorite brand. Find it at WholeFoods or Vitamin Cottage. Refreshing and good for you.

"Hard to NOT do 20 things at Once...."

Nurse Doug said this to me via email yesterday.....hmmmmmmm....yes, just think about it for a few minutes. It's very true. If you are used to multi tasking...maybe going 4 places a day, taking care of groceries, school, work...and then BAM...they say..."hey, sleep in, relax" I guarantee that your eyes will pop open at 620 am and your mind will race with all the things that you should be doing or could be doing. Not very relaxing. Not very relaxing at all. I'm going on day 3 of Spring Break and I'm all ready thinking about cracking open my school books so taht I don't fall behind. Fall Behind!!!???? It's Spring Break!

I cleaned the entire fishtank yesterday, that means dumping all the water, cleaning the rocks, scrubbing that filter thing and refilling with fresh water and getting a new condo for the fish. They will probably die now. I cleaned the 11 yo's room and we threw a bunch of stuff out, which leads to a mind problem for myself. I hate throwing away those little misplaced toys. Little helmetless Lego people are the worst for me. I feel bad for them....anyways I secretly put all the "cute" homeless toys in a shoebox and put them on the "homeless" shelf. I realized that I have 3 other boxes. (I'm going to take a picture to prove it tonight). His room looks good. Then I headed to the basement to work on the new guest room and basement toys. it's gross in the basement. (this is a case of not being able to relax) The new room looks good except I need pillows....but the "rumpus room" as my parents would have called it is disgusting. It's got the shag, brown, swirl carpet and mismatched furniture, along with a ton of Marshall Stacks of Bobby's and just random STUFF. Not sure what to do with the basement.

Today, is knitting night, but it might turn into ladies night. Got that Synda?

I better get to work.

I wanted to remind everyone about "babysteps" for the Earth. If you haven't stopped using grocery bags at the grocery store...please...get yourself 4 Earth friendly bags and stop using that plastic

let's post

So, I really have not much to say, actually nothing to say, but I feel I owe myself some writing time.
The weather here is going to be fabulous today, so I have decided to leave work around 1pm, go home, run my 4 miles, if I can make it, and then do some house work. Sounds like a more than interesting day huh? My oldest sister is coming from MI this weekend and I swore I would have the house cleaned. Plus it's Spring Cleaning time...you know window ledges...all that good stuff.

We got the bed for the guest room! it's going to look nice. If I can get a way today I will go get some pillows for it. Maybe I should look on Etsy.

I'll take pictures later.

MMMmmmm chocolate bunnies

Happy Easter!!

Happy Hippity Hop and Spring Break!!!

So, it is officially Spring Break! Yahooooo. Very Very Busy .
I got a Spring Cleaning Bug up my arse after watching those whacky British women on the BBC clean filthy houses. With that said I announced, "I will clean one room a day on Spring Break". I started on the bedroom and boy was it gross. I could have woven a new small dog with all the dog hair under the bed. I will take pictures later...but I have to say, I cleaned so well it looks like we just moved in. hahaa
Today I will clean the basement, and Bobby is going to get the new full size mattress for the guest room. (sister is coming this week).

Yesterday, I treated myself to a new phone, replacing the one Bobby threw at my head and thankfully missed, which smashed against the kitchen wall...AND got myself a new 8G little light green Nano. I got a 200 bonus last paycheck, and I never spend it on myself....so this time I did.

I have been perusing Blogs this morning and came across a bunch of craft websites which makes me wish I just had time at home to "do stuff". Although I know, from being home before, I don't do anything when I'm sitting around at weeks at a time. I actually do better when I have less time.

I'll post more later, just wanted to wish all who celebrate the Easter Bunny...Happy Hippity Hop! I love Chocolate Holidays!

Go See the Hammer...if it's in your city

The Hammer

I know, I know...but I love independent films!!! It's always cool to be able to say "I saw that little movie when no one even knew about it". Think Juno...see what the little people can do for our fellow undergrounders?
Tonight...The Mighty 18 Wheeler www.myspace.com/eighteenwheeler plays at Curtis Street Bar...uhhhh on Curtis Street, Denver. Should be fun. A good way for us to start our Spring Break.
One more little morsel to advertise. Mike Olafson's movie is about to come out http://www.vintageventuremedia.com
another good chance to support local films. I will let everyone know when the premier/ redcarpet is :)
gotta get to work...

IV's and my sore veins

I'll make this quick because I have a test tomorrow and I have case studies to do...

Today at clinicals, I cried.  I wept.  I feared. I hid. I was OK.
I had a breakdown, because everyone was getting to do "fun" stuff (this is what we call stuff other than vital signs for us baby nurses)but I wasn't getting that experience.  I was getting a great experience on my side, but then I started thinking "what if I never get to do an IV?  I told my instructor and she was so awesome.  She said, "come on, get the other girls I'm going to gather some stuff and YOU are going to do an IV"  .  In school we are not allowed to practice on each other and let me tell you the skin is soooo different then a plastic arm which has been stuck 72 billion times.  She took us into the side room, put everything on the table and rolled up her sleeve and said here's my arm.  Do it.
?????   I got my stuff together and did it...I missed the vein...actually I got the vein, but went right thru (don't laugh it happens)  Then we all got a hold of each others arms and practiced.  It was awesome.  only one of us got an actual HIT, but we all know what it feel like now.  I just need to practice and possibly grow another arm....so I can practice on myself, but it was great.  I feel sooo lucky to have gotten Dianne as an instructor...
So Doug, if you are reading this...nannny nanny doodoo....:)
write you later.

Butt wiper Extrodinaire

If I do say so myself. I had a nice Bi-Polar lady for my first patient. She liked to use the bedside commode even though she could walk to the bathroom. I measured my I&O's...got to see what happens when you have a GI Bleed...and looked like an idiot when I couldn't get the ear temp. thingy to work. All in all it was good. My "client" said, "you have such a pleasant demeanor"...(heehee) little does she know. I'm glad it's done, I have it again tomorrow, but it shouldn't be too bad, although my clinical instructor did say that I will have to put in an IV at some point in my career. I just looked at her with a blank stare...never,...ok I know...but I am scared. I'd rather stick a catheter into a meatus (code word for penis hole) then do an IV.

enough of that vile talk.

I'm pissed about my cables. My first cables, and I effed them up. grrrrr.

I better get home. it's 530 and I haven't eaten anything except a banana a cookie and a cup of coffee....speaking of ingesting stuff...i need some wine.
write ya later <~~~ pretty good huh, write ya later :)

It's getting closer

The buds on the tree in my backyard are here. I am so excited for spring.
Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's party!"
~Robin Williams

Bombs, School, and Green Beer

So, yesterday at the hospital, a man came into the lobby saying he had a bomb. To make a long story extra short....They shot him...shot him dead. At least we didn't have to waste too much government money on this one. Now that is what we call an exciting day at work.

In school we started learning how to do IV's. Here's a secret about me which may hinder my career. I want to puke everytime I feel a vein. Now, can someone tell me how I am going to get over that? Who would have known? Next, knowing me, I'll see blood and puke. I better not. I'll be so pissed at myself!.... Today it's my first real day in clinicals with my own patient. Hopefully everything goes ok.

Lastly, my cup do-dad...Well, last night I must have missed a row and everything got all screwy and backwards. I ripped it out to the point it looked ok, but then i couldn't figure out where I was at. So, following the pattern...out the window. I'm going to try to get it back on track, but I think my cables are F*^%&..... I'll finish it anyways.

wish me luck on my clinicals, I'll write back later.

i'm

funny...sometimes I go back and read these random blogs I write and I just bust myself up laughing.  ...seriously,  true life things are funny...and I can't even post half of them.

funny girl,

KAL

I finished, but it is GINOURMOUS...time to start shopping for a very large mug. It kind of looks like it fits in the middle picture, but let me assure you that it does not. I think I've earned a nice dark beer. Cheers.

Our first blogging knit along. Anyone can join in, grab some yarn, some needles and a cocktail.

please tell me why mine looks crappy...let's blame it on the yarn...since I haven't had any drinks yet...Oh wait....Let me have a drink then maybe it will look better? I did realize I was looking at the wrong side, but Damn..Synda's is so purdy

moving right along...sorry for the crazy picture posts...something is out of whack. I'm on row 29...halfway...I'm sure Synda is done!

post it Biatch!!! ...I'm now indulging in a Gin and Tonic Tall

coffee cup do dad

doesn't quite look like the one below.  i hate this yarn...it's like a cat's hairball.  Jeesus H Christ....I'll keep working

ooooo PLARN

I've started making plarn. That is what I'm calling the "yarn" made from plastic bags. I've used all the bags that I have in the house. So Myssi, I've started one of the projects! If any of you live in the area and want to unload your plastic bags, we'll take them.

guilty...;(

I'm starting my week with guilt.  I was to run the 7k with some people in Denver and honestly I'm too tired to go...and you know, really I'm not tooo tired...just I know it will take all day and I have house work and studies to do.  oh well, I'll have to get over it.

Yesterday I took the kids to see Horton Hears a Who.  Cutest movie ever.  Great lesson and great voices.  Go see it.
The next movie I'm hoping to get to see when it comes thru is Adam Carolla"s  The Hammer.      (<~~go watch the trailer)It's independant and only opening on 3 screens to start, but when it gets here I can't wait.  I love Adam Carolla.  LOOOVE him.

So...I started this pattern on ravelry YES, I said it...I used a pattern, well I'm trying to and I got to the 3rd row and am totally lost.  I'm trying to do cables.  damn the cables.

this is the picture of it...of course, mine will look nothing like it because I don't know how to follow a pattern.  I'm sure synda will help me.

Today I have to go to the grocery store and get back on track with work and school.  It's going to snow 14" tonight so that should make a good drive in the morning .

here's my list of food I'm going to try to get done today.  Lasagna, Butternut Squash soup, Burritos (perfect for lunch) and chickpea salad for sandwiches (new).

better get going.

road trips

Not that I am going on a road trip anytime soon. However, I was changing my bedding this afternoon and started to think about traveling and hotels. My sister worked in the hotel industry for several years and has some juicy stories. Did you know that they rarely or never wash or change the bedspreads? How gross is that!? Just think about, well maybe you don't want to think about it. Sometimes it is better to be ignorant. Ignorance is bliss right. I was staying at a hotel a while back when my daughter got sick and puked all over the bedspread. We took it off and called down for a clean one...what was their answer? We don't have any extra bedspreads. They don't have spare bedspreads!!! My sister says no matter how nice the hotel is, the first thing she does is takes that nasty spread off and puts it on the floor at the foot of the bed. Something to think about.

2 different colors...

Synda blogs in Aqua/Sea Foam...
Myssi Blogs in Blue....

for your reading pleasure

oh my God...here it is in a nutshell

Yesterday....and today
1. olive came home in different clothes, threw up at Becky's.
2. Later said she had a tummy ache...had diarrhea, took care of that.
3. 145 am..."mommy, I poopied!"  On the toilet...good sign...flipped on the light.  SHIT everyWHERE!!!  once she saw it she started screeching , "get it OFF!!!"  (can't say I blame her)
4.  No sign of movement from the dad...Possibly didn't hear?  (yeah sure)
5. 200 am sponge bath and sheet change.
6.  Olive back in bed
7.  Put shitty diaper in plastic bag left in table
8. Next morning, Dad in all his infinite wisdom threw bag with shitty, shitty diarrhea pullup out onto the back porch (thanks)
9. work 5 am - 1130 am...back home
10.  PEEyeew.  what's that smell?  Gross, dogs have dragged shitty pullup back into the house via the dog door and have rolled in it and eaten what was left.  (once again, thanks Dad)
11.  No time... study, have 3 exams tomorrow....
12. Ilin comes home...YUK what's that smell, Mom?   Don't ask...just get in the car we have to get Sissy.

24...realized I'm in big trouble tomorrow.

on a better note. the bedroom got painted by default.  I put all the stuff in the room and crossed my fingers and it worked,it's painted.  I have to order the vinyl decals...then I'll take more pictures

get rid of the clutter

How do we accumulate so much "stuff"? I feel like I am always taking things to Goodwill, giving things to friends or running to the dump. I don't shop much anymore, so why do I have so much stuff piled up everywhere? This week I am going to conquer this once and for all! I am somehow attached to some of these things that I really haven't seen for years. I've been trying to think of ways to reuse some of this stuff. So far I have come up with?

-donate old towels to the dog kennel or humane society, for baths and such
-give baby things to friends having babies
-start knitting up my yarn stash

so far that is all I've got, if you have any more ideas feel free to pass them along.

blogging from home

ahhhhhh.  Today I got to sleep in.  what a luxury.  I am doing my clinicals here in Longmont today...it's physical therapy, so we'll see how that goes.
This weekend I took Olive and Bobby to see the rollergirls and got to meet Jen...Finally!
So neat to meet her in person after 2 years of emailing.  We needed a little more time to chit chat, but we will get to that.
Synda and I had a funny experience with the "knitting group".  We were by far the youngest, not a typical group we would hang with ...but quite funny.  One groovy lady even fulfilled our stereotypical "cat lady" role.  They did also let us know there was a great group up near ft collins....but we can't go to that because you have to be "invited"   .  hahahahaa   thanks ladies, i don't want to go anyways.   Well, we are still on the look out for that hip, cool group that has a cocktail why they knit.  Is it really such a huge demand?  I would guess there are others out there

Education and my File Cabinets

As you all know, I am in Nursing school, if you didn't know, you know now. My life and education has been an ongoing thing, which I believe is the way it should work. I have always been a good student. I don't mean "super intelligent" student, what I mean is: I'm a good student. I take on everything in my life in the same way....as a new experience and as a learning experience. I'm not sure when it happened, maybe about 5 years ago when I started the project of going back to school as an adult. I came to this fabulous realization, as I wrote out the check for my classes, that I am the ONLY person who I need to answer to with this endeavor. I was going back to school to LEARN...not to appease my parents or because I had to, but because I wanted to try something different and instead of waiting around for somebody I know to hand it to me with training included, I said..."let's see what I can do about learning something new". It was, and is often stressful...but mostly....it's fun. Everyday, I actually learn something new....yes NEW. I didn't pick classes that I all ready knew how to do, I went the complete other route. What was the worst that could happen? Down a few $$$ and quit...Not me though, I'm not a quitter, I'll go down with the entire ship, but that won't happen....because, you know what, when you go to class, listen with adult ears and follow through with homework, low and behold you LEARN.

The most amazing part of this life path is that I have my own respect. I wonder to myself how people go through their adult life, never changing jobs, or attempting to learn the new technology. How are their brains staying strong? I'm guessing they are not. I would love to challenge people to take a class on stuff you have NEVER done before and see how great it feels at the end of the day. I'll give you an example. A few years ago I had to take Medical Terminology. It was literally a foreign language, some 10,000 words, prefixes and suffixes, base words and Latin. A one hour, once a week class of all of this and I filled notebook after notebook...but now when I see dysmenorrhoea, I know it means painful menstruation....see?
I can do school...I may not be the A student, but who cares? Would you rather have the A student nurse who makes a 99 on every test, but can't remember which side of the body the heart is on, or the c+/b student, who has empathy, can do math, lived a real life AND remembers which side of the body the heart is on. I want the real person...who knows where to get answers if she doesn't know for sure...not just someone who learns for the class.

Well this post is getting long...Go take a class, earn yourself a little respect (especially from your kids) and do it for your brain.

coffee break

I think I need to take a little break from coffee. I seem to be coming addicted to Starbucks. This is day two and I don't know how long it will last, but I'm giving it a try. I truly try to support local coffee shops, however Starbucks has made it so easy for me with the drive through that I find myself frequenting far too often. The people who work there are always in a great mood and the coffee is consistent. They have a wierd hold on me, I need to break free. I am drinking a detox tea by Yogi Tea to work the coffee out of my system and break free from my addiction. What is up with the Starbucks logo? Have you ever really looked at it. Here is an article about it if you are interested:

I think I've just been tricked!

So...I get an email saying I need to go to this link and join up so I can post comments on the blog. Of course I do, because I do everything Myssi says to do. By the way that is how I get into trouble, although I usually have fun in the process. Anyhoo, I see that I have an option to post...thinking to myself, that is wierd. I go to the blog and find out we are now partners in crime. Frankly it scared me a little bit. What are you doing to me Myssi? I didn't want to blog, but you knew that. You just threw me in and here I am blogging with you......
I guess we'll see how it goes, I know how busy and tired you have been lately!!!

New Addition to the Blog

Synda

My gal Synda is gonna be joining me in Blog world here, that is if she accepts the challenge. We will both be blogging together..."2 Smart Girls, 1 Fab Blog". She can bring some of her goof y humor and daily rituals in so that I don't feel like and idiot and I think it will really help us with our project.

So, Introducing...Synda....Picture to come as soon as I can get onto the iMac.

Unofficial School Study

So, I have unofficially completed my test:
It Unoffically takes 7.5 weeks of getting up at 250 am to work then go to school to become exhausted. It takes unofficially 4 weeks to gain back the flab you've worked off before starting school. It unofficially takes 3.5 days to lose all interest in running, which results in "unofficial result #2".
Feel free to test my results...results may vary because of times getting up and body mass...but it all ends the same damn way. ZZZZZzzzzZZZZzzzz

Long day

The other night I made this yummy soup...it was called the Yummiest Potato Soup Ever. Pretty basic recipe, except you add 8 oz. of cream cheese . Not vegan, but vegetarian. really is Yummy. I put Bac-O bits on the top and served it with garlic toast.
I also took afew pictures of the color of my "clutch" I will be making. Or "winging". It's coming along nicely, I need longer needles. Next time.

I managed to take a picture of Ilin's "star/frog" lookin wrist band. Obviously not my best work. but practice makes perfect. Well, at least that is what I'm telling myself.

I still haven't had a chance to look at my rivalry stuff yet. I'm so excited though. I want to be able to sit with a BIG glass of red wine and look. If I ever have free time again.

On a bummer note. I called my nursing teacher 4 times and no response. I guess I'm not going to be able to retake that test. I really think she should call me and let me know. It irritates me. If I don't make a C or above, I don't go on. That is with all of it.
Grrrr. I have to go get some studies done. I think Bobby has band practice tonight. Which means I need to get some stuff done before later so that I can hang with the kiddos.....i miss my calm quiet life, but I'm halfway done with the semester!!!

OOOH My RAVALRY Invite Came!!!!

YaHooooOOooooo

I was starting to think they were shunning me. I can't wait to have a few free minutes to look it over.
This is going to be a good day....(Let's hope I didn't just jinx myself)

starting to panic

so, let me tell you real quick what I did yesterday....i was going to keep it a secret because I was embarrassed. I went to class, as usual...then decided I didn't need to stay for the second half of classes (after lunch)...I thought, key word thought, they were doing return demonstrations which I don't have to do. Well, I went back to work, ran some errands, went home to watch Paula Dean (shhhh) and I got a text from a friend in class..."you missed the EXAM...where are you!" Jesus H Christ!!! Where am I ???? I'm EFFFin around in my PJ's at this moment, crappin them actually since I missed a test.

This is the story of my life. I forget things. It's like the reoccuring nightmare of not remembering my school locker # and wander about all day. Lord, I'm a grown woman. So, I spent the rest of the day freaking out, calling my teacher and STILL waiting to find out if I can retake the test. I hope my week goes better, but as far as I can tell it isn't going that way.

This Morning, when I put my nursing pants on I could barely get them over my BUTT. makes for a good start to the day. I haven't been running 4 times a week as I should be and all this sitting around...well, you know, plus my monthly friend is coming this week...I'll blame that, because my bras are killing me too. ooh and I'm a bit pissy.

Anyways I thought I would get that off my chest.
ps...if Olive doesn't get over her bossy 3 year old ways she may not live to be 4.

clinicals start today

cross your fingers for me!!!

knitting frogs?

wrist thingy..
Maybe it will look better when it's done and all the strings are cut?   Why does it look like a frog?  oh well....Ilin said it still looks cool, that's my boy!...

I started working on a felted clutch...but have allready blown through 2 balls of yarn and still have ways to go before I can start thinking about the felting part...maybe it's big enough that it can be a bag.  Once again I am not using a pattern, so we'll see.

I started painting the guest room.  We got the coat of primer on and now have to go get the light blue.  It's going to be light blue and browns.  I thought that would be pretty generic for a guest room.

Saturday Work Guilt

I'm at work....this is what I've done....
ripped thru my "actual" work
written a report for school
Completed a CTE for Pharmacology

surfed the net, looking at how creative people are
and ate...
peed twice.

now I'm twittling my thumbs waiting for the clock to tick by
