So very very tired

picture from Tiana RA.ti flickr

i can't quite seem to put my finger on what is sucking the life out of me...but whatever it is is doing a fantastic job. Depression? It shouldn't be, nothing on the down and outs over here. Exhaustion? Possibly, although shouldn't be, since I am not doing anything out of the ordinary. It is summer I should be enjoying the warm air, but I get home from work and just crash. I do want to sit on the swing and enjoy the warm breeze, yet I sit down and just fall asleep.
Diet, exercising, relaxing? what next...i need to correct this mental problem I'm having

quick post before I leave

Lady Gaga...
A couple things about her...
1.She makes me think of BWP when she says something about too much red wine, what's the name of this club, and I lost my phone...it makes me smile every stinkin time I hear it on the radio.
2. what the hell is she saying in the middle of the song? "colonic, colonic, COlonic" Maybe I just hear it that way because of nursing school? Someone please tell me what she is saying.
Maybe she is talking about having a colonic so that she looks awesome in her no pants outfits...which I personally love. If I could go to work not wearing pants, girl, you know I would...especially if I could get away with rhinestones and Louboutins while doing my nursing.
I think it would bring a little lighter side to the health care stuff.
Laughter is the BEST medicine.
"Excuse me sir, this IS what we do for a herniated disc. Don't worry, I am really good at enemas also. What? My shoes? these are the new Louboutin Danskos especially made for long days of nursing."

I love her.
I also decided last night I love Ed Begley.
I would never dress like Ed Begley.

Project: "Green with Envy"

I finally got started on my project for Olive's room. You may remember I picked up this little bookshelf/desk for 40$. I knew it had potential. I had previously worked on Olive's Dresser with paint and fabric and thought this time I would try something a bit easier and a bit more forgiving.

I took the back off so it would be easier to spray paint.
Lightly sand with fine grit sandpaper, clean with Naptha (my new favorite thing).
Spray paint until your finger gives out, then have a cocktail and start again.
Don't forget to take the hardware off.
I actually reused the hardware, it had a cool look
I need one glass knob for one drawer still.
get ready for the chair.

Remove the seat cushion and cut the fabric a few inches larger than the cushion.
I had some cool leftover fabric from a purse I was making. I was going to cover the seat myself but Bobby could barely stand to watch me with the staple gun...so he took over....
then hurt his finger, but Olive had some Band-Aids for him

chair all done.
now look how nice.

I'm sure it will all be a mess by tomorrow...but I was able to clean her room, pack up stuffed animals and rearrange. Just in time for her 5th bday.

This project took:
1 old dresser thing
4 cans of spray paint in apple green
fine grit sandpaper
clean rag
Naptha
screw driver
and a nice sunny day

Friday Night is Sushi Night at my House

A new Study has revealed a rise in tapeworms in humans from eating sushi.
Gross
...

Helminths are not your friend, in any form. (giving myself the heebie jeebies)

"No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. That really is a little worm squirming all over your sashimi. This is not some ghetto sushi joint, so WTF? It happens. Each year around 2,000 Japanese fall ill from worms found in raw fish -- (nigiri and sashimi rather than the mayo playground that's called sushi). No, no, not tape worms...but tiny little worms about half an inch long known as Anisakis simplex."

Years ago one of my first jobs was at a place called Pier 98 in Destin, Fl. I wasn't real picky at what I had to do for a first job. I had arrived at this place at 15 after a too long stint of babysitting and after sleepwalking, while babysitting triplets, I thought it would be in my best interest, and the families I worked for, if I found a new calling. Many of my friends worked in the kitchen at this semi high end tourist place so I thought, "what better gig could I get? I get to hang with my friends on a Friday and Saturday night then have fun later." I never really thought about being the only chick working behind the line....I just thought ...cool 4.25$ an hour?...I'll take it!

Little did I know what I was in for.

I started as a dishwasher. I loved it. All the leftover food you could eat. note for future dishwashers of America.... people never finish their chocolate mousse, and if you have a thing for mashed potatoes, there are always plenty of those also. I didn't care...wash the dishes, restack the dishes, eat the leftovers...and occasionally a waiter would slip me some money to save a "one bite taken off" of Filet Mignon.
I would hear them arguing.
"Table 5 hasn't even touched her steak...that is sooooooo mine." "Yeah if you fuckin bus the table like you are supposed to." "Whatever, Dude, we will split it."
Then they would show up at my slophole of a station and give me some foldin money to "hold that plate" when it comes back. No problem, losers...i don't eat steak...and I'll take your foldin money too.
Eventually the others figured out I was making cash on the side and I was given the opportunity to progress to a better job.
The Fish Room.
I stood in a room full of ice, fresh fish , a large black man, who possibly just escaped from prison, who wielded a filet knife like a Samurai....and no clean shot EXIT door. Once we bonded as co workers I was told what to do on a daily basis. Usually it went something like this: peel 50 pounds of shrimp and butterfly, shuck as many oysters as your feeble girl(he possibly said Bitch) hands can, then head your white ass over here and pull worms.
????????
No...no helminths.
NO NO NO...
"Little Red (my prison name from large black man), It's your job...get your scrawny white ass over here."

Never once in the time I worked in the fish room did I think it was an option to quit. (that didn't happen until I progressed to Fry Bitch) So, I pulled worms.
They filet the fresh Gulf fish, throw it up on a table, where I would take my young nimble fingers, grasp the wiggly part of the worm, and pull. Sometimes I would fret that it broke inside...maybe it didn't come all the way out...could I have possibly missed a side?
Until my prison friend said, "Fuck it, Lil Red, too many worms to pull, not enough time. Those rich fuckers haven't a clue...worms in their fuckin stomachs...hah! Red, this why I don't eat nothin with worms or nothin that hasn't been fried to God's Sweet Heaven" (in my mind I was picturing God frying mullet til it was a perfect crunchy piece of crap fish which you can eat wrapped in paper with ketchup...fins and all).

Prison Buddy is a smart man.

I stayed at this job until I actually didn't mind it anymore....then they moved me to salad and dessert fairy(notice how this has a nice name)...I must say...I don't miss the worms...But I do miss Prison.
So, Sushi Fridays are still the same. I rarely think about it anymore, but I thought I would leave you with this gift for your Sushi Friday or Saturday...or whatever. Enjoy, and remember...fried to "God's Sweet Heaven" may be a motto you would like to adopt.

Blogrolling

Eat well...be well,feel well

If you are not eating this stuff...you should be. Greek yogurt. I must say it is an acquired taste, but so are martinis...so work out it. it is 0% fat and 15g of protein. I add some ground flaxseed to get my Omega-3's and it does the job. I'm a bit of a lazy purist. I never really add anything to my healthy foods. For instance, oatmeal...i eat it just cooked with water and I add flaxseed...no sugar, honey, fruit...nothing. So I do the same with yogurt. My taste buds are easily confused and if I start adding yummy unhealthy stuff, then I have a hard time eating regular flavors, plus I like to save as many fat calories for really good stuff (beer).

I started training for a half marathon. I picked the Boulder Backroads in September which gives me more than ample time to be ready. 13.1 miles...Everyone who runs says, if you run 5 miles you can run 13. This makes no sense in my mind, but I'll roll with it. All I can think is,"13.1 miles is like getting up, getting ready for work, and then bypassing the car or bus and running to work." Makes it sound miserable.

For the training I am using a schedule at marathonrookie.com. My first little goal is a 5k around the 4th of July...then the 1/2...hell, maybe I'll be ready for the whole marathon by then.

I bought new shoes...am going to revamp my diet...and off I'll run. Did you know for every mile you run you burn at least 100 calories...AT LEAST!!!! Sweeet. Running and 30 minute Shred.

do you want to virtual train with me?

Attack of the Anxious Kind

How does this happen? it happens so quickly. I am mosing along, meeting my time restraints...getting things done then
Wham Bam Thank you Mam....
ANXIETY ATTACK.
It's like the body snatchers have come. I excused myself from my desk with the beautiful view of outside and walked to Ideal Market and bought some trail mix (super fattening) and a Huge Ass Hazelnut Chocolate bar. It did not help because now, along with anxiety I have a tummy ache.

My Xanax is at home

I know where it started. I have been looking for a patio/meditation space idea in the blogs. As I click through them I realize how much other people are doing. Synda has pointed out more than once that these people are only noting the best days of their artistic days and I should not feel like a loser. Yeah...Not a loser.
Then I think about how I want to go to Yoga, but there is no time. How I have projects I'd like to enjoy before the close of summer and it's all ready mid JUNE!!!!!!!!!
Stop it brain (see this is crazy people talk)
Stop thinking...stop dreaming....
Stop list making behind my frontal lobe.

I have a job interview tomorrow.
Another thing to schedule into my life, and if I get the job, another time slot I need to make room for.

all I really want to do is be a stay at home mom with cash and the ability to sew, knit, garden, cook (if I knew how), and drink beer....and maybe run around the block a few times.

shew...glad I got all that out of my system.

We did some work

As I have stated many times I'm for big projects. Just with a plan. When they start tearing stuff down I have to leave the vicinity. Bobby and Mike the Neighbor tore down the crappy little playhouse so that we could put another little patio in the side yard. He promised if I he took down the playhouse he would give me a tiny water feature to go with the new area. So I said OK.
It took them about 2 hours and it was "free dump day so I did the runs to the dump with the stuff. Now it's all gone and I can start surfing the net for cute easy sitting places.
Saturday, bright and early (before the shed tear down)I made the family get up and drive to Denver to go to the Ballpark Flea Market. I got myself two friendly projects. the first a desk for Olive's room, 40$. Then I got 5 old wooden frames for 40$ I have plans for both, now I need to buy myself some time to get it all done.

This weekend Bobby and I made some yummy lasagna. We have to always make 2 batches because he is a meat eater...me Veg.
His contained the normal stuff including Spicy Italian Sausage.
Mine was a take on Sara Snow's butternut squash lasagna. The only thing about mine was that I needed to cook the squash a bit longer. It was a bit too al dente for me.
We had a enough to freeze for lunches so that is always nice

LONGEST DAY EVER...

I picked up the second half of a shift doing surgery med.assistant stuff today which at the time sounded fabulous. Now it has turned into the longest day ever. I got here at 7 am and it is now 218pm and I still have 4 hours. I switch to the other job at 3pm. grrrrrrrrrr

It makes me tired...
plus I always get stressed when I ahev to do blood draws and haven't practiced in a few months. I'll try to stay calm. and for some damn reason I always have a fight with the scale down there...and then on top of that the blood pressure cuffs never work so I have to do it manually...which is fine, but it takes too much time when the patient is used to it being done digitally.

hmmm'
I'm ready for today to be over. I'm gonna buy new running shoes, I've printed off a half-marathon running schedule for getting ready to run one....and my weekend will begin...if it stops raining that is.

here's that water law for rain collecting...

http://water.state.co.us/pubs/pdf/RainWaterBills.pdf

"Colorado water law declares that the state of Colorado claims the right to all moisture in the atmosphere that falls within its borders and that “said moisture is declared to be the property of the people of this state, dedicated to their use pursuant” to the Colorado constitution. According to the constitution, water must be appropriated according to priority of appropriation. As a result, in much of the state, it is illegal to divert rainwater falling on your property expressly for a certain use unless you have a very old water right or during occasional periods when there is a surplus of water in the river system. This is especially true in the urban, suburban, and rural areas along the Front Range. This system of water allocation plays an important role in protecting the owners of senior water rights that are entitled to appropriate the full amount of their decreed water right, particularly when there is not enough to satisfy them and parties whose water right is junior to them."

Flapjack Aren't Just for Breakfast Any More

It came up at the book club the other night: "Flap-Jack Boobies".
Yes I said it, it is a real thing and if you are a mom that birthed through your vagina and possibly breastfed you know what I'm talking about. It's an evil thing...evil, evil, EVIL. These are the types of things that snap you back into reality when you start thinking a little bit outside the box.
You know the thoughts like I have at age 40.

"Hey good lookin...good job, Mamma, you been workin out, just don't look at your backside. Take your glasses off when you look and always remember that you gave birth and you have a bit of an excuse...besides all that...you are one hot MILF, especially since you have no luxuries of plastic surgery, personal trainers, or good genes".

Yeah that's me...
Until Ashley brought up the fact of flap-jack boobies.
First thing I thought...F her...They nourished our kids....Then I thought again...
Damn it to hell.
lohan
(she doesn't even have kids!)

She's right, we have flap jack boobies. This is a phenomenon that Moms often get after birthing and losing weight, usually to a weight which is less than previous or when you are older. OLDER! Damn it. You can camouflage with good bras, but cannot contain them in bathing suits, laying on your side, or on your back...or just plain naked. Flap Jack boobs. I hate you boobs. Moms who stay on the chubby side usually don't have this problem...Their boobs stay luscious and luxurious.
I'm feeling older by the day. I looked at them yesterday at every angle possible and now all I can think about is silicone or saline.

I'm on a diet, I don't want any flap jacks.

creature in the basement

We have a raccoon coming in the dog door while we sleep...or a focx..but I don't think the fox can get open the dog food bins....he has no little fingers.  Maybe I'll try to stay up and catch it.

Monday morning...up at 515 am and it's so bright out it seems like noon.  After yesterday's tornadoes I'm ready for a quiet day.  I got Bobby up, Olive up...everyone dressed and out the door.  I dropped Olive off at Becky's and then headed home to do my 30 day shred.

So now that I have all the crappy stuff out of the way, I can get ready for school, hit the road at 830...do school til 12 then off to work until 6...Good thing we have left overs, so that tonight there will be no cooking...  yahoooo

better put some make up on and fix my hair...

Sunday Business

We worked in the yard all day Saturday, mowing, hanging twinkle lights, helping the neighbors move the gazebo, trimming hedges and weeding....then decided it was time to start a few new projects. I'm all for starting new projects...just not so good at finishing so I really get stressed when Bobby starts talking big...like building a new deck.  Today we decided to start on the rain barrel.  I have wanted one for a while but as you may or may not know...collecting rain water in Colorado is illegal  (I'm such a rebel!)  We headed off to the Cowboy Kmart (farm store) and asked the guy for a water holder...he announced that they DO NOT SELL rain barrels, just big containers, what we put in them is up to us,(smiling he tells us,"they come with spigot attached").  He called someone on a walkie talkie and lead us to a secret back lot where they were locked up like little prisoners.  $49.95 and we will be having our own water for the plants.

put the drain and chain up...Bobby is a genius when it comes to "rigging" things.
there it is...once we get it spray painted with lovely colored paint and a few plants on it it will be camouflaged.

We did a little lawn organizing, put lights up on the Umbrella and installed the summer entertainment : a bug zapper.
Made a little seating area for people watching.

The last project I started was trying to figure out how to put a bit of shade over the porch swing. It's so hot in the midday it doesn't get any use. I figured if I could get some heavy canvas and put it over the top of the swing (which should eventually have trumpet vine growing over it) I could get a bit of removable shade.

I purchased 5 yards of white canvas (the only color they had) and will start sewing something that will flop over the top support similar to a tent.  We'll see.

So,that was it for Sunday.  School on Monday and another week passes by.

Ahhhhh Grassssssshopper....

you tied the belt too tight.
It's hard to picture isn't it?
Natural causes...
I guess it's pretty natural to run out of air when you have a belt around your neck and you are dangling 2 inches from the floor with your penis in your hand.

I was talking to my friend about this....
Men are flippin weird. Women would never think about doing this (well very rarely) and I'm sure if we did, we would have at least fancy shoes on for when they found us.
So, here the scenario: David comes home from a long day of filming (did i mention he was in Thailand?) and feels a bit frisky. Hmmmm I'm a little tired today so i guess I'll get naked, find my old crappy belt, put it around my neck and this secure spot in the closet, play with my ding a ling and then see if I can fall to my knees and hope this bar here in the closet doesn't break....oh yeah, and I got to remember to try to stand up right when I'm *finished* wink wink.
Back to the Thailand thing...isn't that the land of little hookers, and the place you can get ANYTHING sexual you could possibly want?...or does doin yourself in the closet sound better?
While I am on the subject about the weirdness of men...
Must they really masturbate all the time? Working in the hospital you see and hear all kinds of crazy things. As a woman, IF i had a penis (first of all I would love it) most importantly I would NEVER EVER stick it in a vacuum cleaner. I would NEVER EVER stick it in a beer bottle. I also would never stick a beer bottle up my butt or vahooha...I just have a bit of common sense and getting off is not that important to me. I would much rather have my pride.

So next time you think about doing a little yanky yanky hanging from the closet bar either :

1. make sure you have someone there with you to get you back on your feet and belt off your neck.
2. make it look like suicide...that means let go of your penis (maybe you clamp down when this happens)
or
3. just remember Grasshopper say "Not good idea, Sensei".

school....again

I start school again tomorrow. I'm nervous yet excited. School is not really supposed to be stressful, well not as stressful as I often make it. To me, I have to have everything in order just to get started. The good thing is that we have classes Mon and Thursday, from 9-12. so that is not too bad. I can work fairly normal hours and still be home for the family.
I spoke to a few of my dear nursing buddies yesterday and I think they have me convinced to go try to get a perdiem job. Tomorrow I will take myself to Lifecare and see if I can apply. Even if I just work 3 shifts a month at night that would be good experience and extra $$$. I jsut get so nervous changing my schedule, but now is a good time. Olive starts Kindergarten Aug. 18 and it opens up a new door for all of us.
My goal is to stop worrying and start doing. I shouldn't worry about things that have not even happened yet. right? right.
Maybe I should get my resume in order.
while I'm sitting here.....
at work. :)

Home...

(Me...with fruity margarita for the beach....)
Sweet home...minus the sand.
I have a ton of pictures to get into a little slideshow then I will post the most boring link, so that you can all look at them.

Our Trip was beyond fabulous...Here it is in a nutshell. I lost both my ipods, because I lose everything. (my name and address is with the Ipods in case someone wants to return them) they were left in row 13C of the American Airlines flight, last flight of the day I was told, so, in all reality, those nice people who clean the plane should have found them. HAHAHAHA I guess they consider those little piece of electronics "tips".
We all got sunburned, even though we went through 2 bottles of 75 block and I actually sat under an umbrella with a hat. Ask anyone! The 12 y.o got bit so bad by a hermit crab at the beach store he wouldn't even touch the one he bought for 13$...now I have to take care of it.
He also managed to get stung by jellyfish, but luckily the mean Aussie lifeguard told us to get some vinegar from the snack bar and pour on it. It helped....better than trying to pee on it.
I ate my weight in boiled Pnuts at the "Boathouse"...and scarfed down Gumbo everyday, sometimes twice a day, and had fresh grilled fish sandwiches which were filet to order at AJ's.
I ripped my toenail off "boogie boarding".
The Family was great. We didn't stay together, and you know what they say...the family that doesn't bunk in the same condo stays together...it worked for us.
The wedding was short and pretty...the best kind...nothing like those crazy hour long Catholic weddings.
Olive saw Porpoise about 4 feet away when she was playing with Daddoo, on the second sandbar, and swears they were Mermaids.
I found a pink Barbie on the beach the second day while running and she thought the God's sent it to her and explained to her Bubba how the new Pink Barbie is gonna be so happy and excited when she sees the Barbie Castle she will now live in at Colorado, instead of the old sandy beach.
I thought the Barbie did look pretty happy...on the beach...but it's hard not being a Malibu Barbie and living on the beach, so she probably IS happier in Colorado.

I'm gonna leave out the part about the father of the bride, my brother in law, being so hammered at the wedding he could barely stand up...he's a friendly drunk, so it was actually comical.
And the part about my sissy "hangin' out with the nice drug dealer" in the condo hooked to ours...because she is an adult and can make her own decisions. heehee
And that Olive peed on the "puck puck"(putt-putt) golf course while we were playing...through her panties, through her dress....because she didn't think there was a potty anywhere near.
Oh yeah...and the fact that Freckle face girl is now totally covered in zits and peeling skin because red head and Florida sun do not mix...while the rest of my family looks as if they had a nice relaxing vacation and are a nice shade of golden brown...similar to a coppertone commercial.

stay tuned for pictures this evening
