Garden Box..I can do this

Today is Garden Box Day aka MayDay. I can do this. I don't need help...really.
I got the plan from Pioneer Woman and headed out to Home Depot. Bobby went with me, but I had my clipboard and was determined.
Wood section...
I'm familiar, got my wood, some young chap came and asked if I needed some help.
Why yes I do...can you cut these 2 boards in half?
Yup

(See moments later I had just barked at Bobby because he started telling me I needed a liner and they may charge to cut the wood and blah blah blah...
"HSSSSSS...go over there and make one of those little things with Olive while I figure this out MYSELF!!!! I have a plan! damnit.
He grimaced, growled and left.)

Young chap comes back with my wood and I say, where them stakes and screws at? One aisle over!
Wam Bam thank you mam...
now at home

I didn't have to cut the wood because the Young Chap at Home Depot cut it for me.

91$ of cedar wood...

Yes the grass is disgusting, it didn't used to be but this is one of the reasons I have decided to stop trying to "cultivate" grass...I want something more edible and rewarding.

laying it out

predrill all your holes first with a little bit then with the deck screws. You need 2 people to help hold the wood while you get it straight and drill.
This is where Bobby had a break down and took the drill from me. He said "you hold the wood" But I could have done it if I had a girlfriend there.

it took less than an 2 hours to do the entire thing. I'll post the pictures of the painted one soon ( i painted it to match the house)

This is the first part of my backyard revamp.
I've called someone to redo our deck with that recycled composite stuff ...then we will start designing.
This is all very stressful for me.
Trying to plan a big picture.
But now that I don't have school YEAH!!
and my schedule will be cut into a 1/4...I better find something to do
write ya later

It's A-OK

Today was the last day of my true clinicals. It was uneventful, which is just fine. When I walked out the door the clouds opened up and rays came down and all seemed right in the world. Truly right, although only momentarily...it was A-OK. I danced a little jog, did a little yelp and wished there was someone to kiss. I hopped in my car and went home, changed clothes, slapped my running shoes on my feet and took off for a mind cleansing run. As I ran, the semester flew off the ends of my fingertips. The anger and angst for my teachers were pounded out through the bottoms of my soles and I ran. I listened to NPR and thought about an old lover who told me,
"why not run 7 miles? You have two working legs...why not?"
And he was so right. Just run.
I thought of Forrest Gump, "Run Forrest, RUN!!!.........Run Myssi RUN!!!!"
My mind weaved in and out of NPR and Ira Glass's soothing voice, as I thought of how my life is my own and I can make time for myself. I wished I could take the burdens this old friend seems to be carrying and run them away for him....because it seems he may never be able to run far enough.
I want to make things right.

I willed myself to forgive the anger which wasted my mind space on someone who didn't believe in me.

I ran.

Everything pounded out on the pavement, slowly, evenly, with direction.
As I rounded mile 4.5 a biker came by and yelled, "You GO girl!!!!" and thumbs up.
my heart opened.
my mind cleared.
and it was A-ok.

I arrived home, went upstairs, and scrubbed everything else off, and down the drain. Felt the strength in my legs, the slight pain in my knees, and smiled.
One more test, 4 more weeks, and another part of my story will begin.
Because I am strong.

360 days of my life #27 RED LIPSTICK CHALLENGE

360 days, originally uploaded by v8grrl.

Bobby said it reminded him, for some reason unknown, of the Ringling Brother's...I declared today "Red Lipstick Day".
after washing my face, brushing my teeth I needed a pick me up...MAC dragqueen acallin'...I applied this lipstick to my pencily thin lips...and to my fingers, chin, teeth and somehow my school book. No mascara yet...just some left over eyeliner...I thought to myself...what if I just decided to start wearing red lipstick...everyday? Would people snicker and wince as I walked by? Would people join in? Would they just get used to it and I would be known as the chick who always wears crazy red lipstick.
HMMMMM
I would invest in special soap to remove it from my coffee cups and all my friends would dread the kiss of my lips on their cheeks. My fellow running friends would smile as my sweaty face ran by...
"How can she wear red lipstick when she runs?"
strange...
There are bigger issues to worry about in the world.
If putting on red lipstick makes me laugh at my funny mug then so be it.

I challenge each of you to put on red lipstick and take a picture....
and post it...make a smile worth smiling about.

Project: "Green with Envy"

I finally got started on my project for Olive's room. You may remember I picked up this little bookshelf/desk for 40$. I knew it had potential. I had previously worked on Olive's Dresser with paint and fabric and thought this time I would try something a bit easier and a bit more forgiving.

I took the back off so it would be easier to spray paint.
Lightly sand with fine grit sandpaper, clean with Naptha (my new favorite thing).
Spray paint until your finger gives out, then have a cocktail and start again.
Don't forget to take the hardware off.
I actually reused the hardware, it had a cool look
I need one glass knob for one drawer still.
get ready for the chair.

Remove the seat cushion and cut the fabric a few inches larger than the cushion.
I had some cool leftover fabric from a purse I was making. I was going to cover the seat myself but Bobby could barely stand to watch me with the staple gun...so he took over....
then hurt his finger, but Olive had some Band-Aids for him

chair all done.
now look how nice.

I'm sure it will all be a mess by tomorrow...but I was able to clean her room, pack up stuffed animals and rearrange. Just in time for her 5th bday.

This project took:
1 old dresser thing
4 cans of spray paint in apple green
fine grit sandpaper
clean rag
Naptha
screw driver
and a nice sunny day

Friday from the Universe

Friday...thank you, thank you for getting me through the week. My letter from the Universe ,yes I get email from the Universe, along with Hancock fabrics,Borders, and some odd email from Christian Singles(?), anyway the message said:

"Feeling incomplete does not make you so. It's how legends are born, giants are made, and history is written. It's why you're here. To ever so briefly escape your true identity as you live with an unquenchable thirst that will lead into adventures of grandeur, discovery, and a realization that love is all there is.
You so rock, M
The Universe"

With that said, today I think I will concentrate on not quantity of daily crap, but my form.
Sit back, relax, think, think:
form
I can do it...
Escape true identity...feel uneasy,do something harder than usual:
form

(if i could have photo-shopped my face on there I would have)

I have this exact pose, right now, in my office chair.
This is my preparation for the weekend.
Watch out Weekend!

All together now...
