I'm not diggin' it!

This dog is digging up my yard!!! I've been living with grown, "civilized" dogs for so many years that I had forgotten what it was like to live with a puppy. Our mastiffs were slobbery, but you get used to that...seriously you do. I came home today to find 3 new holes and the chives were out of the garden. Sorry Myssi. AAAAHHHHHHH! She is driving me crazy, she is trashing my yard, my little oasis. I just need to keep her supplied with bones to chew on...she goes through them so fast, it is like buying her a starbucks everyday.

ANGRY BAG

I worked on a bag last night. I feel guilty writing mean words about this bag, but it is in angry bag. You know what I mean? I always try to sew with "groovy love" in my heart...Looking at the bag and thinking. "I'd use this bag...this is a cool bag...stitches aren't perfect...but this bag is cool." I'm usually right...people usually say ...that's awesome....BUT THIS BAG....ANGRY BAG.
I must have ripped stitches out 5 or 6 times...to the point where Bobby said, "can you chuck it and start over?" Lord NO...think of the guilt. Plus, someone had picked this fabric for this bag...
I finally got all the stitches ripped out started again, appeared to be going fine then I realized I had stitched the bag onto itself...and wouldn't have noticed except the bobbin ran out. (angry bag) (cursed bag)...this is when I honestly considered throwing it away, because the person who wants this bag will surely have ill fate for carrying it, right?
At this point I only want it done so that I can get the angry bag away from my sewing machine so it doesn't become contagious....any of you crafties out there have any ways to prevent "angry sewing"?

Happy Hump Day

Wednesday...Hump Day....yuppers.....here we are, halfway thru the week and my week is filling up again. Weird how that works. When I have nothing to do I mope around looking for things, when my schedule starts to fill up I start stressing. Maybe it's because I feel out of control. Maybe it's just because I'm a whack job? (no comments from the p-nut gallery, plz)
Here's my schedule, according to friends...as I say, I have nothing to do with it.

Today: Dye/foil Princess Nissa's hair, because she is going on vacation....(I'm not going on vacation)
Thursday: Hot Yoga with Synda, because if I don't go soon she will never forgive me.
Friday:Probably some sort of FAC...I'll ride the bus, just incase (don't want to drink and drive)
Saturday:Foil/dye Leslie's hair...can we get it done in an hour, she says? Lord...I'm not a professional, if you want me to do it an hour I'll try....but I don't want to hear any complaining...
Saturday after hair:(the reason we need to be done in an hour) Small Batch Beer at Odell's in Ft. Collins

:ie; get hammered with the men...(appears to be the only way my man enjoys my company anymore :) )...this part of the day will involve driving, so there will be arguing about WHO doesn't get to get hammered. This is always funny because it turns into a drinking match...If one person can get drunk or appear tipsy within an hour then they don't have to drive...so you can imagine how this progresses. I usually end up driving because my tummy starts to hurt and with Bobby being the rockstar, people are always slappin' him on the back and buying him drinks and, you know, it's an alcohol foul to not drink, let alone it would be rude!

Next week I start back to school. Only one class, but it still puts a damper on on things. Just remember the big picture. Speaking of school, Synda, you better get your arse up there and figure out what is going on.

I have to get some work done....I'll write in a little bit

yummy

I forgot to post a picture of my sweet little nephew. Isn't he precious! I made this baby wrap for my sister to use with the babies that she photographs. I might start selling them in my etsy store, I haven't decided yet.

OH YEAH

I did get these rockin shoes to add to my Platform collection
I have this same style shoe in Blue, Sparkly Silver, Pink, patent leather...
ahhh
so cool

Olive wanted me to wear them to the grocery store....in the rain.
I was able to talk her out of that fiasco.

needed

Well, another weekend gone...
started some more projects.  dress.  worked on Titsy bag, sewed it wrong then had to rip all the seams out.  Makes for an "angrybag"  if you know what I mean.

Day 2 of no night time peeing in the pullup.  (not me, Olive)  yeah.

Sat around contemplating why we are never invited to parties...It must be a sad sign.  I'm going to try not to think about it too much.

Watered the lawn with the much needed water and what would ya know?...Mother Earth gifted us with a shitload of rainfall during the night...she also gifted me with wet seats since I left my windows down in the VW..(story of my life)...Oh yeah and my running shoes were outside...Will it make them smell better or worse?  I'm not sure if they could smell worse.

Speaking of better or worse.  Today is Synda's anniversary...Happy day...  I'm extremely jealous, but try to contain it.  ")....I want an anniversary.  I want someone to want to have an anniversary with me.  Silly, I know.  This day and age of Woman's Strength and Empowerment...and silly old me reads Jane Austin...and still dreams my Prince will throw his coat on the ground for me to walk across....oh...he throws it on the ground all right...but that usually means it's dirty and needs to be cleaned.  A wise man told me "the grass always seems greener"  (yeah we have all heard this)...I don't think someone else's grass is greener, I want my grass to be greener.  I want it to grow greener...Maybe it just needs a good dose of fertilizer, neither one in my household is a good gardener, maybe that's the problem?  yeah....

Synda said something funny yesterday after our long walk.   I told her I don't want to Look like a mom...She said "I know, We are fightin the fight sister."  I like that.  We sure are, aren't we.  Now, wether anyone notices is another story.

Memorial Day...I hope all is well at your BBQ...

working out and beer

Hanging out with Myssi is always fun. Tonight I found out about some of her workout secrets. With a very full belly, full of pizza and beer, she thinks it is a good idea to workout. Let me tell you it is HARD to work the abs when it causes beer to bubble up into your throat. While I am struggling with the moves Myssi is having me do she keeps reminding me to suck in my stomach. The girl should be a personal trainer! She has it in her.
I just read an article stating that beer is better for you than water after a workout...who knew.
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/2511328.cms
Now I know why she takes a break and has a beer while she works out. Alway one step ahead!!

morning...

Jees...I started the morning with a 3 1/2 year-old who argued the entire morning. Testing my patience until I, first begged and pleaded, then blew up. I always feel bad afterwards but I swear she is trying to get me to go screaming out of the house pulling my scraggly hair out. After it was all said and done she buckled herself into her car seat and said "Mamoo, I love you." yeah yeah...

Yesterday I ran about 3 miles, it was hot. I've been doing that stomach workout from Self.com this month and it's killing my sides. I could barely lift my beer. Maybe one's sides are not to have those muscles worked. I need a workout for my fat arms. I want to be able to get my arse into a well fitting bathing suit and feel M.I.L.F.y... weird I know, I think I'm having a midlife crisis. Any help out there?

Friday big Bubba, Ilin, graduates from elem. school into Middle School...can hardly believe it. Graduation is at 115 and I am going and holding a big sign that says "GO ILIN>>> One Step Closer to Clown College!" heehee...I am totally cashing in on embarrassing him as much as possible when he is young. I think he thinks I'm nuts anyways.
Here's the one crappy thing I did. I didn't call and remind his dad. I KNOW...but he is a grown man and he gets the school emails just like I do...so we will see if the jackass shows up.

Tonight The Mighty 18Wheeler plays with some bands from Australia. All ages show. I can't decide if I want to take the kids. It would be late...and we live about 45 minutes from Downtown...Maybe I'll just dye my hair instead.

Cooking and our downfalls

So, Synda and I have been going back and forth about this damn meal planning for the family. It's not like we are single anymore and get to have red wine and spaghettios for dinner 4 nights a week. We have a stupid, oh excuse me, a family we have to cook for...but here's the problem. Nobody cares what they eat for dinner until you set it down if front of them. What's up with that?
The men say they are sick of eating what we give them, yet they don't want to give us any ideas as to what they want. This is what I hear all the time ..."I just ate lunch 2 hours ago...how can I decide on dinner?" Well Mister...if you want me to do the laundry, pick up the kids, go shopping then make dinner you better have an idea or your getting crap. Guess what...I work fulltime also....Oh yeah, you forgot about that?

I need a wife...Synda needs a wife. I would say we need a houseboy, but I imagine it would be like having another puppy to take care of, and that's all we need because they need to eat too. Any suggestions?

THE BIG THING AT THE PARK

LOOK AT THAT VIEW...SO LUCKY

Beautiful day today. Yesterday I ran at the hospital...went up the big steep hill behind us. I bet I didn't even run a mile and a half and I was struggling. I'm going to blame it on the hill. I wonder if I can lose 15#'s by july? Probably not unless I chop a leg off.

Paid for my summer class. I think it starts June 2nd? Anyone know?

No dead-ends...

Spring Time must have the better of me. I need and want...everything.
My mind needs a vacation and my heart feels as if it has all ready gone on vacation?
Sorry if I'm not making any sense.
I saw something I shouldn't have seen and it is making me crazy.
Wondering if it is true.
I'm guessing I was wrong again...poor character judgement call?
Is it a vicious cycle, or was it a fleeting moment...which never occurred?
Testing my abilities and my thoughts of myself.
be strong in mind and heart...
that is what is true

this weekend

My weekend ...in pictures...these beautiful fairy flowers I found while walking to work from the bus.  Lusciously pink.

Big Brother went to a sleepover and we went to Art-Walk, which is great in our small town.  They close off Main St. and we can walk right down the middle .  there is chalk everywhere and people are smiling and drawing...the weather was perfect.

We stopped and had yummy Pizza and beer.

Statue Cowboy Man
Then  Saturday we did yardwork...tidied up the flower beds and planted seeds and....
the lettuce is coming up...Olive's rocks are keeping it company
Planted Olive's Garden (yes, it makes me laugh too)
We planted flowers and mowed...I got all the laundry done and dried on the line.
Big Brother watched Olive while Daddoo and Mammoo went up the street to see a friend's cover band.
It was like redneck utopia...
here...let me sum it up, because I didn't have my camera.
A table of mentally handicapped people drinking way too much Coors light...
A midget bartender.
People swing dancing to Ac/DC
woman dancing with Beer ,in the bottles, in their back pockets...it was odd.
Bikers and Geriatrics
and all with the bad 80's music background.

hmmm. small town local bars.  :)

Compliments of my dear Princess Nissa in her late night drive.
"*I know I have a weird sick sense of humor but, my favorite thing I came across was the casket mart. It falls into the interesting, odd, make you say hmmm??? category. It made me laugh. I want to know when the time comes and you need to buy a casket I can say,..."oh, I know this great little casket mart where you can get a excellent deal!" Its just funny!

My Life is like My Fabric

I'm stealing a few minutes to write, while I'm here at work. Stolen time. Makes me feel good :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whenever I get new fabric, I hoard it. I realize this is strange. I buy it so that I can make something with it, yet I am always fearful to cut it. What if I cut it wrong and ruin it? What if the picture in my head is different than what I am able to make with the fabric. I'll wash the fabric, iron it, stack it on top of all the other fabric and admire it...thinking of it's potential...
I make the patterns, draw them out, talk about them...then shy away when it's time to proceed.
The fabric is just as my life. Beautiful, yet needing a pattern and the ability to survive a "cut".
My goal this week is to make something with my new fabric...not the same thing I always make...something new. I'll stop standing and staring and start moving. I really will.
Happy Birthday Jen!!!!
Myssi & Synda
traded it all
Do you ever feel you need a little more?
A need to be someone's Muse? Love? Thoughts for the day?
To have someone run their hand down the back of your neck and actually look at you...not through you. To remember why, why this is the reason we get up?
Lately I have been feeling this and I know I'm not alone. I have looked into people's eyes and I can see the need. It hurts my heart to see the look of emptiness and the apathy in their eyes, because maybe they will never have that feeling again.
As I get older, maybe it is I who needs more....more than I even did before...exactly for the reason that love and passion doesn't come as easily as it once did. You can't keep replacing one thing with another. My heart aches for it. It's reality...It's truth...and I think it sucks that this happens.
I have thought about it...it's not really loneliness, it's the need for passion.
The Black Hole Bag
finished one bag tonight.
reversible
I call it the Black Hole because they are so big...things just disappear in there
Rain, Rain Go Away
Woo Hoo...first day of NO SCHOOL! I'm done for a few weeks and decided I would start my fabulous vacation by riding the bus. It was POURING rain and as I took Olive to daycare I started that crazy in my head rationalizing as to why I should drive instead of the bus. Then my cheap ass "little voice" said, "you could save $6 today by riding the bus". Ohhh really,now? $6? Ok, sold. By the end of the week it will be 24$ Then I can go to Yoga and buy some more fabric.
I'm almost done with the Blue Bag and Synda told me about these cute oilcloth lunch bags I want to make...I wish I could just come to work and sew, instead of do insurance crap. My seeds have come up outside and the ones I planted inside have also started to sprout.
what else? I think i made all A's and one B...good for me...and I can't wait to see what the summer brings
oh yeah...
Doug, please take Micro with me and get out of that online class...I see there is 3 more open spots.
Our fun day in Boulder.
Myssi pretty much said it all in her post about our day. She always has a fun way of saying it like it is. Here are some pictures from today. A lot of sugar for the girls, a lot of drinks for us.
Happy Birthday Ryland, the best Mother's day gift is you!
Cheers!!!
Mother's Day
After birthing 2 kids from my once slim loins, I was able to relax...Ilin was at his dad's and Olive was home. We spent Saturday at a car show and Sunday...all day with Synda, Chad and Ryland (Synda has all the adorable pictures.) It was a gorgeous day and I am so thankful I have such fabulous friends. I didn't get my chores done, but that's ok...I had a good weekend...I did a bit of knitting, a bit of reading, a bit of sewing, and NO studying....even though I still have one final. I don't care. I'll look it over tomorrow.
Everyone....be thankful to you mom. It's not an easy job. It's not easy always being the Bitch. It's not easy hearing "You don't understand" over and over again even though you MORE than understand. It's not easy saying NO, when you want to say yes. All I know is I'm just trying to raise the most openminded,smartest,problem solving kids I can...and for all you mom's that have young girls...I'm trying to raise a sensitive, woman loving young boy. We can change the world with our children. It gives everyday hope. Today my daughter said to someone, "I'm a veggie-tarian, I'm saving the mother earth" Well, that's a little Hippified for me...but it was sure damn cute and if Olive can make a difference in the world...I'll take it.
Synda will post the pictures...I'll tell you one thing that we did...Boy howdy did we drink today.
my favorite drink of the day:
Cucumber Mojitos.
cucumber,mint,lime, soda, simple sugar and yummy yummy gin.....
Veggies and drink in a glass....what more could I ask for?
To all my fellow bretheran...Nurses and nurses to be
You might be a nurse if……….
You've ever told a patient to 'move toward the light.'
The front of your scrubs reads, Nurses….here to save your ass, not kiss it!”
You occasionally park in the space with the “physician’s only” sign…and knock it over.
You believe some patients are alive only because it’s illegal to kill them.
You recognize you can’t cure stupid.
You believe there is a special place in hell for the inventor of the call light.
You believe that saying “it can’t get any worse” causes it to get worse just to show you it can.
You wash your hands BEFORE you go to the bathroom.
You consider a tongue depressor an eating utensil.
Eating microwave popcorn out of a clean bedpan is perfectly normal.
You’ve been exposed to so many x-rays you consider it a form of birth control.
You’ve heard a patient with a nose ring, a brow ring, and 12 earrings say, “I’m afraid of shots”.
You’ve ever placed a bet on someone’s blood alcohol level.
You’ve told a confused patient that your name is that of your co-workers and to call if they need any help.
Your bladder can expand to the size of a Winnebago;s water tank.
You have seen more penis’s than a prostitute could dream of.
You believe not all patients are annoying….some are unconscious.
Your family and friends refuse to watch medical sitcoms with you because you spend the entire time correcting everyone and pointing out upside down x-rays
You’ve sworn to have “do not resuscitate” tattooed on your chest…..Soon.
Discussing dismemberment over a gourmet meal is perfectly normal to you.
Your idea of a good time is cardiac arrest a shift change
You believe in the aerial spraying of Prozac.
You believe that “shallow gene pool” should be a recognized diagnoses.
You have made your friends swear no matter how much you drink they will never drop YOU off at the ER….”just give me a bucket”
You believe governments should require permits to reproduce
You believe that unspeakable evils will befall anyone who utters the phrase…”wow, it’s really quiet, isn’t it?”
You have ever wanted to write a book entitled
“Suicide: getting it right the first time”
You have ever had a patient look you straight in the eye and say” I have no idea how it that got stuck there”.
You’ve had to leave a patients room before you begin to laugh uncontrollably.
You think "awake and stupid" is an appropriate choice for mental status.
You know it's a full moon without having to look at the sky
You have told a patient to "get some rest now" and they die right then and there in front of you and all of their family members
Caution, kinda gross...warning
First of all a great big warning...I think feet are disgusting...and yes those are my CHEET-TOES/Fred Flinstone Feet...what I'm trying to demonstrate is what a day of clinicals in shitty shoes does to your feet.  see the horrible red spots.  ARgh...they itch and hurt...Pressure Sores, I took care of pressure sores all day, now I have my own.  What you can't see is the big blisters on my baby toes  :(
as a result of a long hard day of clinicals I am drinking what is left in the fridge....
(see below)
I really should be studying....Now for the really sad and shocking part
It may be hard to understand, but I like my friends and family to see some of the interesting people and things I get to see, things we all take for granted.  Yes, when you are in the hospital the Dr prescribes and does surgery, but the nurses are the ones who care.
I took care of a young man, 28 who has end stage renal disease.  All of his blood must be filtered through dialysis...it means all the blood comes out and is filtered so that all the yukky stuff goes away then it is put back in....this is done continuously for about 6 hours...a great big filter circle, if you will.  We have happy functioning kidneys, which filter our blood and send it out in the pee.  He does not pee....:(
He cannot have a beer...safely....
He has to have dialysis 3 days a week so he cannot really work or live a lifestyle which
you would think a 28 year old, good lookin' guy should live.
basically it sucks....but you know, you do what you have to do.
here is what his arm looked like....this is not his arm...just a picture of what it looked like almost exactly.  Except he was strong...and had muscles.
they don't all look like this!
So next time when you have a nice glass of red wine or a few beers then complain about having to pee...give a little thanks to your kidneys for watching out for you.
This is a picture of  an AV fistula
this one is very large and probably is aneurysmal.  The blood which flows thru is at a high pressure and causes this...similar to an aneurysm, but it hopefully won't get any bigger.  Blood flow is pretty strong and when you are constantly putting a hole into the vein it weakens...make sense?
The guy was really cool.  I enjoyed caring for him, and here's something....even in our saddest, sickest moments we still find time to smile....
His toenails were painted black.
I'm only a student, so my information about AV's is vague...so don't take any of this for "facts" because I'm still learning...I'm sure some one can enlighten me.
Just thinking
You know, when I started my nursing school my sissy Lisa said, "coffee will be your best friend"...you know what I say? My teeth will never be white again. I don't even like coffee, but Man...I drink some coffee.
poor teeth, poor stains on the front of my shirts, poor car coffee holder and carpet below it...coffee stains...
Today and tomorrow are my last days of clinicals woohoo.
just so everyone can appreciate my momentary greatness...I made a 100% on a test! whoop whoop.
i'll write ya later
3:35 am drive in
This morning as I drove in, I noticed the sky. I remember being young and the sky being so black. You could see the Milky Way and the stars were so bright. I don't live in the city per se, so I should really be able to see the beauty...but it is often vague. I know it's there, just by mere intelligence :), and it is still beautiful....I just wish I could see more. I remember when i lived in Atlanta, we would all go out to this huge old battlefield and lay on our backs and just stare at the sky. We could look way to the left and see the scorpion (which we can't see in Co.) and next to that, the warrior, the big and little dipper, the 7 sisters ( I always think of the movie Xanadu), and Orion's belt. Do people care about the stars anymore? Do we teach our kids about the stars? We should. Take time to lay in the yard on a warm summer night and point a few stars out to your kids...or friends.
Bdays, Chuckie Cheese and...
the kiddos
one warm weekend.  I was planning on just staying home and studying...you know try to take a bit of the stress off of all the tests by possibly knowing something...but after a few beers, doing every chore possible in the house, and then 5 loads of laundry washed then put on the line...I didn't do much studying...I did try to study on the way to Rylands"s pre 4th Bday at Chucky Cheeses, but as I was studying with the open book in my lap displaying swelling and other -itis's of the penis a 18 wheeler pulled up and gave me a dirty look.  I guess he could see the dripy penis pictures in the Nursing Book..He was probably trying to see if I had a skirt on and got an eyeful of "drip" instead...that will teach him.
We made it to the Bday, boy howdy is that place gross...We saw lots's of dirty tables, dirty kids, a man with a purse, tons of gross remnents of Bdays past on the floor and god knows what else...but  we did have fun playing Skiball and shootem up video games.  We needed a vat of santitzer when we came out of there and I believe I still feel dirty.  Oh and "note to self"  they only allow 1 beer per hour and 2 beers per stay...so to say the least we didn't stay long  (it was Bud light)...blecccck.  Don't they realize how much more $$$ they would make if they had a full bar in there?  One day...ONE DAY...i'm gonna do it up right for all the up and coming parents.  Bad enough we have to go to kids movies without a cocktail...but Pizza joints too.
Whatever...it was fun
Today I actually got some stuff planted: cilantro, mescalin lettuce, 2 tomatoes and some geraniums.  Bobby mowed the lawn and painted the lawn table.  It will be nice this year.  Hopefully we will get to enjoy it.
One more stinking week of school.  I have zits on my zits...and I can't get off my ass.  I should just put lead weights in my gym bag, seeing how I carry it back and forth to work and to school and back into the house but haven't unzipped it in weeks.  What a waste...
oh baby!
My nephew was born on the evening of April 30th. Little Benjamin, I can't wait to meet him. I made him some little booties and a hat. I think one of the booties is a little bigger than the other, but he probably won't care. Last night I made him something really cute, but I'm waiting to post a pic until I get a photo of him inside it.
master cleanse Oh no...
jeesus H christ Synda,
My ass is still devistated from the Senokot herbal you gave me. Master Cleanse? How could I go without eating for 10 days? Can I drink beer? I'm scared...don't you have to buy a crapload (excuse the pun) of stuff? Lemons, deionized water, and weird stuff to drink...molasses? I bet it's not good for you or your electrolytes.....ahhhhh my nursing school paying off.
"Some critics point to lack of essential nutrients in this fast, citing a deficiency of protein, vitamins, and minerals. As a result of these deficiencies, individuals on the diet may experience dizziness, delirium, and fainting in the short term, with possible damage to the body occurring in longer-term applications. Dr. Joel Fuhrman attributes these effects to detoxification, which he says passes after the toxins are eliminated"
anyone done it?
Master Cleanse
I am feeling so fat lately. It seems like I am always hungry and I'm tired. So starting on the 12th I am going to do the master cleanse. I picked up the book at Whole Foods last night and read it before bed. It is hard to find a block of time without parties and social engagements that do not involve food, but I'm going to give it a try. I would love to know if anyone has followed through with it, the entire 10 days, and if it was worth it. Basically it is a 10 day fast with a "lemonade" drink and drinking salt water in the morning and a tea at night.
Myssi, maybe we can do it together and help each other along.
School is almost done for me
And I feel fat!  How will I ever get into a bathing suit?  Oh yeah we don't really need those here in beautiful Landlocked Colorado...but IF for some reason I need to go to the Baby Pool with Olive, Or the city Pool...ahhh Just forget it.  I have 1 more full week of school and all my finals before I get a much needed 2 week break.
I think when I'm done I will drink my size in cocktails and calories...if I'm lucky i will get sick, throw up and not gain any calories...but that never happens because I fall asleep before it does.
I will do Yoga every other day and run....I will plant the flowers, veggies and decorative grasses that need planted in the yard...and possibly do something fun...with friends.
oh yeah!!!..I will make the bags everyone needs and wants and I will finish the knitting project , the dress project, and possibly finish a real book; not a text book about bedsores and open wounds....I dreamt tickets to the bahamas were 145$ round trip....(is dreamt a word)...well what ever...i went, was somehow tan in my personal dream (anyone who knows me knows this pasty irish freckled skin comes no where near to tanning) and I laid on the beach drinking fruity drinks with extra liquor out of coconut shells looking fabulous...and I was topless.  (i know don't think too much about that) but man if was nice!
ok..well off to work..i mean school...
Synda, can you do the birthday Chuckie Cheeze n the afternoon?  i have to work a bit on Saturday...and find out if they ahve beer there...otherwise I'll be loading up the sippy cups...I don't know how long I can handle Mr. Cheeze with no libations.
