Wash That Job Right Outta Yo Hair

amazing how this works

I woke up this morning and was rested.
My motivation has re-entered the room.
My sense of calm has shown it's face again.
Amazing what happens when you quit a toxic job and all the toxic people.
It felt great to delete them from my life, my social media and my cortisol level.
I'm not sure if all of this was brought on by my own brain or if things really turned for the worse and I just lost my sense of reality within the work space.
It does not matter one bit now!
Don't think I didn't cry or think " Am I making a mistake?"
What if, what if , what if.
Don't think I didn't question all the people I confided in at work.
How could they be so back-stabbingly cruel?
not just to me, but to many.
The Passive Aggressive Buddhist is the one that really got me.
I shouldn't admit it , but I did think about ways I could bring that person down at work...
But I knew it would not make me feel better in the long run.
But I still hope that the Karma Goddess gets them in some way.
Although from the person's history....Karma is constantly getting them, but they are too stupid to see.
That brings me some joy.
I did lose a few people who I really thought were my friends.
That is what I get for thinking and you would think I had learned this from divorce, but apparently i'm a bit of sympathetic person.
(Ie : idiot)

I laughed silently this morning as I walked through the grocery store; smiling at people and feeling....normal.
I didn't think, " man, if I just drive into a tree I won't have to go to work tomorrow and see those people."
You know what else I learned?
That is not a normal thought process.
I believed all people thought about hurting themselves so that they didn't have to go to work.
My therapist informed me otherwise.
so that's good.
I have started listening to this audible called
Just Let Them Theory
Pretty good info.

With all of this said my new job training begins on the 13th.
As I reflected back on my last position I now know what I want, and don't want, from a job situation.
I've learned :
To stay private.
To not do more than your job description states, unless paid.
To always remember it is a business and they don't care about you, per se.
That I can leave when it is not filling my needs.
I don't need to have guilt about anything job related.
And my opinions are best kept silent unless it is part of my job description, which it is not.

All of this new found information is going to bring my sense of self respect back, my cortisol level to normal, and my loving heart back from the depths of the hateful....
hopefully.
I'm taking quite the pay cut,
so I better get something out of it

Hopefully all of this will slowly sink in and I will be able to do some change for the better also.
I'm sure I could use it, too

It's not that bad...is it?

 It's Rough

It's never that bad.

It's never as bad as we initially think. Just are required to push through.  Last week I made a texting error that I imagine we have all made at some point.  I texted to a group text when I should have been texting a private friend.

Yeah

it sucked, but not as bad as it could have.  I only stated that a person was clueless as to her new puppy.

Said person immediately texted me privately and said to keep her business out of group text and she now knows where she stands with me.

I totally got it.  It hurt her(duh). I apologized, I called, I explained, but honestly, that really wasn't enough and I understand that.  This person is young and still quite self centered and they didn't need me talking about their life.

I was in the wrong.

If I hadn't cared I wouldn't have even responded, but I do care about this person. I regret my actions but once trust is lost there is noisy way fix to that, so I need to focus my energy elsewhere.  The only thing I can do is stay out of the way and be careful not to express my feelings too loudly.

And that is it.

when you do wrong you can only apologize so many times then you have to move on.

This is not the first time in my 50+ years I have made a mistake, or said some negative things, or even thrown a joke out with a bit too much sarcasm, and I'm sure it won't be the last. But I do try to be aware and I have been trying to be more sensitive.

My upbringing of being the youngest of 12 siblings conditioned me to be spicy.  Eight older brothers didn't leave me with room to be soft or unable to defend myself. When I think about what my problems are I often refer to what I learned last year.  I can't ask myself what is wrong with me ( I KNOW what is wrong) but the bigger picture is " What happened to me".  These things formed the me I am today.

  • youngest of a large family
  • alcoholic parents
  • father with Alzheimers
  • rape
  • death of 2 brothers and father within a few years
  • death of mother
  • unfaithful partners
  • divorce
  • experiencing an OD of a child
  • suicide attempt by child
  • illness in family
  • Covid
  • PTSD
  • untimely death of sissy
None of these are an excuse for my sometimes poor behaviors....but they are a reason for some, for the mistrust and negative attitude I sometimes carry with me, and definitely for my cynicism.  Every day I learn new things and try to make the effort to be and do better, but I'll be honest, sometimes I slip back to my protected self and throw the walls of mistrust and spice back up.  One would think that after 40 some years I would catch myself before it happened.

As I write this, my heart suffers to know that I am not a great person all the time. I'm guessing no one really is. I do know that I care. If I can I will sit by you and hold your hand in a crisis. I will sit at your deathbed if requested. I will be there in any way that I can if you ask....and I do not tend to hold a grudge. Life is too short for that.
I understand if you are busy, or if you have been busy for 7 years....I'll most likely still be here if you need me or want to talk. I'll pick up that conversation right where we left off.  I understand if you can't show up, even if you said you would be there....You know why?  Because life happens, family happens and usually that stuff is way more important than a meeting at the local bar.
Life happens.

So, It's not that bad, is it? Work is tough right now. Figuring out my place in an environment where I am slightly appreciated but not enough to monetarily compensate me. Realizing that maybe I can't always stay somewhere just because I like most of the people. I, too, need to live and pay my bills and move forward in a direction that fills my needs and not just continue doing something because it's there,  it's expected and it's easy.
Also, when work becomes a bit too dramatic for me, I tend to move on. My free time is more important than bringing the dread of work home with me, or to even spend any of my private time thinking about work.

That's where I am right now.
A few good things
  • friend is coming to visit
  • off social media this month
  • been reading
  • painting
  • working out
  • job interviews
  • re-eval after loss of sissy
It's time to re-evaluate this time period and make a new "list of to do's"

Daydreamer

Play "Daydreamer"
on Amazon Music Unlimited (ad)
White, silicon eyes, watching storms, sitting quiet
Reading books in the heat of city lights
Bored, everyone's bored
When I'm restless, put me under the night life stars
And I will feel grounded

I know I'm just a girl
But can I change lives?
If I am nothing, if I am trying, I think I can
I step on broken glass, and dream of soft clouds
When feelings are heavy they become all we are

And we become night time dreamers
And street walkers, small talkers
When we should be daydreamers
And moonwalkers and dream talkers
And we become night time dreamers
Street walkers, small talkers
When we should be daydreamers
And moonwalkers and dream talkers
In real life

The quiet lust belongs to all of us
And drives us closer into the madness
Of the world, of a gun
(And it suits me just fine)
'Cause everyone dies, and nobody loves
And somebody dies right now
I hear the quiet, sweet music that no one sings

And we become night time dreamers
Street walkers and small talkers
When we should be daydreamers
And moonwalkers and dream talkers
And we become night time dreamers
Street walkers, small talkers
When we should be daydreamers
And moonwalkers and dream talkers
In real life

All I ever know is what I dream about when I'm sober
Never turn away from love
Before the love you have is over
All I ever know is what I dream about when I'm sober
Never turn away from love
Before the love you have is over
Nothing can die while we are here
Nothing can die while we are here
Nothing can die while we are here
Nothing can die while we are here

Then we become night time dreamers
(Nothing can die while we are here)
Street walkers and small talkers
(Nothing can die while we are here)
When we should be daydreamers
(Nothing can die while we are here)
And moonwalkers and dream talkers
(Nothing can die while we are here)
And we become night time dreamers
(Nothing can die while we are here)
Street walkers, small talkers
(Nothing can die while we are here)

When we should be daydreamers
(Nothing can die while we are here)
When we should be daydreamers
(Nothing can die while, nothing can die)

365 days :maybe it's not generational.... day 177

Day:177

today this girl went to her first job.
That's Tripp in the background, one of the owners of Tortugas in Longmont.
They needed a dishwasher and this  freshly turned 15 year old said ," I am in".

We , well most of us, have worked a labor job at some point in our life.
I have done them all.
Growing up in the tourist town of Destin, Florida I worked mainly kitchen....because that is where the work was. It was hard, sweaty, work....but I met some of the most amazing people ever in the kitchens.  I learned about work ethic, food, cleanliness, teamwork, anger management and love in those kitchens.
Everyone should work in the kitchen at some point.
True fact...
washing dishes teaches you respect and understanding of service industry and teaches you what the low man on the totem pole really is.

This girl, Olive Bijie, showed up, having never worked a real job let alone operate a dish machine, busted her ass, and made it through a busy Saturday night ....
I am proud of her.
Before she went in we talked to her about work ethic and how she is strong  and sassy (which is requirement #1 of kitchen work)
and she is not a quitter.

just so you know....
I thought she would be crying when I picked her up.
but NO....
she was standing there tired, but smiling, with a togo box of high end food and the owners saying
"she did great...it was so busy.... we want her back if she will have us"
her response....
" I like money...I'll be back"

We say this generation and the last are lazy...don't want to work, want to start at the top and never do manual labor....but here I have a 15 year old girl, who is baby sitting, dog watching, and now working washing dishes.....
so maybe it's not generational...
maybe it's the upbringing?

I'm a really proud mom right now.
She exceeded my expectations and did it...
and I hope she excels at it.
even if it is dishwashing
because if you are going to do a job...
do your best,
whether it is washing dishes or brain surgery

do your best.
do your fucking best

New Job....what could possibly go wrong?

Week 2.5 at the new job and today was what I consider a cluster.
Not the happy kind of cluster,
like a yummy cluster of grapes,
more like a conspiracy of lemurs or a cluster of angry bees.
To say the least, it was not pretty.  Not pretty at all.
New job:
Circulating RN in surgery for eyeballs.
Yeah, you got it...who the hell decides they want to be a nurse for eyeball doctors?
Well, I'll tell you who....the person who thinks, "sure, why not...? It's always good to try something new, learn a little, make more money...how hard can it be?"
Yeah
how hard could it be....?
I'm gonna say it is about as hard as trying to get out of a too tight sports bra after a 5 mile hot and sweaty run....
very hard....not graceful and a bit comical.
Good thing my skin is thick and I can fret and freak yet know that I can say ,"fuck it"... I don't know what I am doing and they can suck it.... period

and no one died....it's eyeballs, not brains or hearts....
EYEBALLS.

oh and no one went blind.
Typical of any job, they apparently feel that 2 weeks training is sufficient. Which I think is probably a good standard for pulling weeds or cleaning cat boxes, but sterile field?  Sheesh, I can barely get my thong underwear on in the correct direction,
so maintaining sterile field with 10 people counting on you needs more than 2 weeks.
One surgeon said to me....
"you ARE a nurse...you must have learned this at one point."
Well, yeah....and you are a doctor, you must have learned how to slam an IV into a neck vein in a hurry at some point too, but I'm guessing if I asked you to do it now it would be difficult...
But after all you are a Doctor.
butthole

With that said,
I am basically on my own on Monday, with one week training in the Operating Room....but, don't fear, I'm not doing the surgeries....so that is a plus....
but I am mixing all the medications and making sure all runs smooth.

Lord,
My hair is going to fall out
but just as in everything else...
this shit isn't going to conquer my ass
What do they say now?

"Not today, Death"

I got this,
at least I think I do.

WOWZA...Friday...longest day ever?

Possibly...but hey what the heck, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger.
Speaking of which, I left the 12 year old at home to babysit the 5 year old, and am hoping I still have a free standing house when I get back this evening. I left clear instructions with the 5 year old to be nice, no crying, listen to her Bubba and please, please...don't destroy anything...including the neighbor's house. On top of that, when I left...the Bubba was still sleeping. Not a real good start, but I fed the wee one, PB&J waffles, with added syrup (that outta keep her wound tight as a bobbin for about 4 hours) and turned on Dora. The only question I got was, "Does this mean I can wear whatever I want today?" Sure kid...have at it....and with that said, I'm pretty sure she is putting on winter tights, a dress that is too small and some sort of Princess regalia over top.
Whatever floats your boat...because I will be at the hospital til 1:30 then off to the nursing home for my first shift alone....until 10:30pm...the goal for me to day is, make sure everyone is pilled and still breathing by the change of guards....cross your fingers for me.
I chose not to work at all this weekend.
Maybe tubing? if it clears up?
I guess I'll just take one day at a time....
I'll let you know if I make it through the night
hey isn't that a song?

Friday...and 2 hours to go

Hell to the Yeah...Because of NO MANDATORY OVERTIME....I will be leaving in about 2 hours approximately 9 am, right about the time my coworkers roll in. Hee Hee...Today I'm leaving the work for them....

Yesterday I went and bought the

so my butt can look like this:

Synda and I did the moves in the living room as my 12 yearold and his buddy had to be directed to LEAVE>>>GO AWAY!!!!!.
I plan on running today, and trying to eat properly. 60 days til beach.
Everything is toning up, yet we can't quite figure out how to get rid of the layer of Mom Belly. (Synda, we really should take a picture so people know what we are talking about) . Synda pointed out yesterday, that if we had started working out this hard right after the babies were born (5 years ago) we would be looking bangin' right now. No kidding. But we were in denial and now we pay the price.
The funny thing about the Jackie Video was : everyone had spray tan abs. We need those...they should sell the spray tan with the video...they would sell more videos, I'm sure of it!
Between the fake lesbian boobs and the spray tan I couldn't quit giggling...
but as far as review of the workout...it's the exact same...and I mean EXACT as SHRED. We are thinking that possibly Jillian Michaels and Jackie were Lesbian Lovers...makes it all that more interesting huh?
Picture it...picture it...see it in your mind

now let it go...

I will quit droning on....Later today I am going to do a Workout Giveaway...so check back :)

Friday and I'm done

It's noon. I'm eating at my desk...
purple potatoes and veggie sausage. mmm mmm good.
I have completed all my work short of some scanning that needs to be done.
I have sent off stupid silly emails to everyone on my email list and now...
what shall I do. I brought my book The Reader, so that I will be ready for the book club.

I am trying to stay till around 430, when wendy and I will walk next door to the TOAD and have a Friday cocktail with friend. 5 oclock is 5 hours away...that is a long time, especially in work hours.
Hopefully I'll make it.

Also, My kid is staying home this weekend which means I have a free babysitter. I emailed Bobby and asked him out. He didn't reply. How could he resist? I would go out with me, even if we have been going out for 8 years...is one more night going to kill him?

damn him

So for the remainder of the day here are my work goals:
finish lunch
sanitize everything in the office
workout?
read my book ( i do get breaks)
scan the stuff I need to
write my scholarship essay (unless someone else would like to volunteer to do it for me??)

then go for cocktails.

love ya
have a great weekend and if you ahve any blogs you want me to look at...send them my way...
I have time, plus I need some new ones to add to my roster.

Because my life is boring right now

I got this great email from a dear friend....I changed all the names...I should save it for Friday...But it may be perfect for Monday....here it is long, but oh so funny:
"...so here it is WTF is up with people?

I don't understand why people find it so difficult to show up at work and do their job. Its not like we have it rough we basically just have to show up but, apparently even thats asking too much. Everyday no matter who it is thats working they are late. Not a 1 or 2 minutes late but at least 30 min late. Of course the only time its busy is in the morning when I am by myself. Today Dorka called at 7:30 "I overslept, I'm going to be late" no shit, you're already late. So once again I'm working by myself with a line of people, not so patiently waiting people. So 1st thing, I check in a lab patient then then I have to wait 5 min while the printer is "warming up", well thats nice, I didn't get a chance to warm up this morning. Then of course the annoyed employee wants their $5.00 petty cash and they are special you know, so they shouldn't have to wait. Then its the limited English speaking person who just doesn't understand why they have to pay $30 for their ER visit they have a wecare card, doesn't that just magically make their bill go away?...well, yes it does, all but $30 of it went away...then they pull out their huge wad of cash and pay. Next up is the lovely construction guys who are working on something somewhere and are suppose to meet someone sometime at someplace. Well thanks for all the info guys I appreciate it and yes it would be my honor to figure it all out for you while you stand their and stare at me. And of course while all this is going on I'm trying to answer the WORK phones....then finally say screw it and gave up answering, which prompts another visit from Lola in the ER to find out why I'm not answering when SHE calls to tell me that she is sending me some more things to do.
I say,

"Listen, I'm not answering because I'm busy and yes I can hear the phone ring and yes I can see that its you calling and yes I can here the tubes dropping down into the station and yes I know they are probably from you sending me more crap to do and yes I know the reason you won't walk the damn papers over like you do every morning is because you know I'm alone...busy...and could use a little help and heaven forbid that help come from you even though there is absolutely no one in the ER and we always rush over to help you out!"

So my morning pretty much sucked and then Dorka (almost forgot about her, huh?) strolls in at almost
9:00 coffee in hand...WTF wheres my coffee? Then even after she finally shows up it takes her an hour to get ready and come out of the cashiers office all the time I'm still registering all the patients, answering the phones, and doing bedboard. Then just about as soon as she comes out Susan comes over for breaks...good I'm ready for a break (remember I still need a coffee) but oooo Dorka goes on break. Ok, thats fine I can wait, at least Susan is here, (the only other sane one left) and I can get a coffee in a few. But noooo Dorka doesn't come back until the bedboard meeting is about to start and I've already had phone calls all morning asking "wheres my bed" so needless to say I have to stay and I have to let go of the idea of having a nice cup of coffee...it just wasn't meant to be. Its 11:00 lunch is in an hour no problem...right? Well, Dorka goes to lunch 1st but first decides she needs to make a couple of phone calls. She finally leaves and then doesn't come back for an hour. Now its 1:10 and I literally just stood up to leave for lunch when Bosslady comes out and says Lola in ER is "slammed" and needs help. She has three people to register...the same three people that have been here forever. Ones been here over an hour the next 45 min and one for half an hour, what she has been doing since they first got here I don't know. Anyways, I sit back down, whats another missed lunch break. Finally at 1:45 I go to lunch. Thats good at least now when I go back to work I'll only have another hour and a half before I'm off... thats good. So after lunch I begrudgingly go back upstairs, Susan looks over my shoulder to check on the ER to see if she should go help Lola before she goes home. I told her no just go home don't give her another break there's not even anyone to reg she'll be fine. I was wrong about 10 min after she left Leann called and wanted to know when she was getting her afternoon break. Seriously, SERIOUSLY!?? I about had a nervous breakdown. Let it go, let it GO...its friday its almost time to go home. I was so excited to see Sasha walk in (never thought that would happen) she was early and I could go. Not yet, she had to go do something first but would be right back. Silly me I was on the phone working when she came back so she was going to go get some water. After 15 min I realized "get some water" was really code for" flirt with the security guard". She finally came back and I was on the phone again so she was just going to go talk with Bboy. To top things off Janet came in to do an interview and while she waited for the sucker who applied she stood behind me while I was talking on the phone and ran her fingers through my hair (you all know how much I like that). Seriously...she kept doing it the entire time I was on the phone and even after as I was trying to give Sasha report so I could get the hell out of there. What is wrong with people and why do they always feel the need to touch my hair??, I don't really know you, I don't know where your hands have been or when was the last time you washed them, huh? So...with that my day was done. It couldn't have ended sooner....no really.....couldn't it have ended sooner?
All I can say is....What The Fuck....its my new favorite phrase

Me

thanks A....I couldn't have said it better...I swear

the case of the office/desk job

My pants are tight. It pisses me off. It makes me not want to eat ever again, except that I love french bread...and pasta (I have switched to wholewheat). Are my pants tight because I'm getting fatter? Or are my pants tight because I sit in this spinny office chair where my feet don't touch the ground for 9 hours a day?..."office spread".
Office jobs are bizarre to me. When I used to wait tables I would say to myself at least 50 times a week, "What I wouldn't give to sit at a desk, not have to pull out cafe tables or refill ketchup, and possibly have paid sick days!!!" Now I think to myself...I should get a part time waitressing job just to get some movement in my life.
More Randomness today...
Office jobs make me want to be a cleptomaniac. When I walk around the office I see things I want. Is that wrong? For instance, the lady across the way has a red stapler that stands up on its end. Where did she get that? We order our office stuff from the same purchasing area. Did she bring it from home? Why would you bring your stuff from home? I'm going to take it. Except she'll know, because I sit too close. Same with pens...I like other people's pens...My pens always suck ass. Maybe someone is stealing my pens. I also like to look through peoples office drawers when they aren't here. I get here really early and it started one day when I needed some Splenda. I started poking through people's drawers and they had everything but Splenda. I'll tell you what, I'm surprised we don't have mice in this office seeing how much food these office ladies cram in their drawers. It's gross. Do you really need emergency "Little Debbie" in there?
Anyway, back to the topic at hand...my chair is making my ass big. I am going to start running again today. Even if it kills me and it might. I am on week 4 of the pushups. I'm pretty sure everyone has given up. Bobby even started complaining when his first set was 30 last night. Well, Mr Wussy, the entire idea was to get to 100 pushups!
I have one more month of summer to get my ass in shape (this has been a lifetime goal). Running, pushups (for my Madonna Arms I'm working on), and maybe I'll try some hiking.

good job...loser

Wowza,
First I would like to congratulate myself on making a big ol 85% on my Microbiology Test.    thank you, thank you very much....  Only 2 more tests to go ...

Secondly, I would like to degrade myself for possibly being written off the schedule at a job I have had for 5 years...Thank you, thank you very much.  ( and no, it's not because of blogging at work, although that would make more sense).

As some of you know I work at a hospital doing financial insurance counseling ...not exactly my life time goal, but kept my other half and me insured with crappy insurance at an exorbitant rate for the time being (yes, you would think a hospital would give it's employees ok insurance    hahahahahaha...NOT).  It appears they may not be able to "accommodate" my FALL status of schedule needs while I try to better and further my educational standing for their facility; typical big business, even in Non-profit.   I am in nursing school and you would think with the shortage of nurses they would like to have me return to the wonderful facility, I now call home ,when I have completed my schooling.  Obviously a huge misunderstanding on my part.  Apparently they can get someone for much less $$$ to work my job for the 3.5 months I have remaining in school.  The bummer part is I didn't want to leave, i just wanted to go to 21 hours so as not to kill myself on my final semester.   You know  the school schedule is  about 38 hours per week of actual school time and I figured I could , you know , neglect my children and other half, deprive myself of free time and mental well being for an additional 20 hours per week just to maintain my status at the hospital....but, instead, it appears I will be greeting you with a freshly sanitized cart at Walmart, smiling and readily pointing you to the returns isle.   Thank You corporate America for your support.

I'm here

and Synda is back...I know she has some pictures of her vacation, but she is supposed to be studying for a few placement tests....maybe that is why she is not blogging.

So, short note...when I come to work in the morning I always freak out when the deer are in the middle of the street...or hanging on the sidewalk, like a pack of evil teenagers, waiting to jump me. If you beep, they run all crazy-like. If you don't beep, they just look at you...like a deer in the headlights, for lack of a better phrase. they are sooooo cute yet larger than you think when they are right next to you.

So, I just had another test in Micro...the STRESS of it all...it's leading me to drink, well, ok...I drank before, but it's making me drink mixed drinks at an ungodly rate. The first test, if you must know...I made a shitty 73% on...I need to make a C in the class to move on...which has never, ever been a problem with any class (I'm an A/B kinda lady)...but this class, it's stressing me out. Everyone is dropping, but I refuse. I don't know if this is idiotic on my part or genius. If I drop...I'll HAVE to take it again and I loose my money, and all my friends can vouch for how fricken cheap I am, I would NEVER,EVER, EVER pay for anything twice (except my precious Ipod that I lost/got stolen). If I make it through the class and get a C, I'm done and will never have to worry about the DNA chain again and I will get to go on to RN like a good little soldier.
I'm sticking it out even if I blow a gasket in doing so.

I have a bunch of pictures of funny stuff at home on my camera...I'll try to post them later.

I have to go to the Kolodjeiz for a BBQ Saturday, any suggestions on food to take. Please keep in mind I'm a crappy cook even with the recipe. Leave all suggestions in the comments so I can go through them.

Kill me now...Please

I got to work at 5:15 this morning...that is not the problem. The problem is that they put this lady in the office to work with me, who is very nice,LOUD, but nice and now there is not enough work to do. A perfect way to make a miserably boring job more boring? Take away 4 hours of the work, and then just sit at your desk "trying to find things to do"for the remaining 4 hours.
Christ Almighty. It's now 1022 and I have read every blog on my blog roll, every blog on their blog rolls, ate my breakfast, most of my lunch, filed EVERYTHING, cleaned my desk with the toxic cleaning wipes, searched for everyone I've ever known on google(hoping to get some dirt), thought about my life, contemplated human nature, and have now finished blog #2 for the day. Thank god I don't have my camera...there are plenty of construction workers in the parking lot....I could hoope for one of those "diet coke" moments as seen on TV.

Wake me when it's over

I still have school from 2-450...maybe I'll get out of here early and take a nap.
oh yea...I made a whoppin 52 on my test yesterday...good way to start the semester.
